Nintendo of Japan has just announced that Mario Kart Tour, a smartphone application, is currently in development. Mario Kart Tour will be released in the upcoming fiscal year, between April 2018 and March 2019.
Oh well Saw just “Mario Kart” and got excited
I am beyond excited! That means a Mario Kart 9 might release next Spring (I'm dreaming here)? Year ending March 2019. I am a proud Mario Kart addict so I will download this....whatever it is...lol
I mean, they don't have to make a handheld Mario Kart like what used to be the case. Lately it's been about 2-3 years between Mario Karts. Mario Kart 8 came out in 2014 so a 2019 release date would be 5 years. I imagine we'll see another one around Holiday 2019.
@10th Rider I sure hope so. :)
Looks like it could be fun.
How much would you be willing to pay for a Mario kart game on mobile?
I pay $10 if they don't include loot boxes, microtransactions.
The game is likely to be free like Mario Run and Pokemon Go. It will have MT's in it for sure. Pay for the blue shell in game.
Hope someone from Nintendo didn't see that comment...$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for blue shells.
Would rather have Mario Kart 9.
Not happening anytime soon. There only one Mario Kart game per Nintendo system it's on. Unless Nintendo doesn't count 8 Deluxe as one. Then it will come year or two later for Switch.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a port it does not count
There were two new Super Mario Galaxy's on Wii and two new Zelda's on N64. Nintendo breaks the "rule" sometimes. There will be a Mario Kart 9 on Switch. The attach rate is too phenomenal not to.
Uh what does Zelda and Super Mario platforming games have to do with Mario Kart only having one game on every system it's on? Nothing. One on SNES, N64, GBA, GC, DS, Wii, 3DS and Wii U. There one on Switch. Whether or not Mario Kart 9 exist or coming depends on whether or not Nintendo doesn't see Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as the main Mario Kart for Switch. Don't get how what I said is so hard to comprehend.
They don't have to follow rules.
"Whether or not Mario Kart 9 exist or coming depends on whether or not Nintendo doesn't see Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as the main Mario Kart for Switch." I agree with that. And also whether or not they choose to have two Mario Karts.... like two new 3D Marios or two new 3D Zelda's. My point (as well as yours) is it's pretty much their prerogative.
Again those two has nothing to do with Mario Kart. Zelda always have two games,. Two on N64 Two on GC Two on Wii Only time it didn't was Wii U because of the development took too ong. GC Remakes came. Super Mario will only have two if they have unused ideas they want to expand on which is the only reason Galaxy 2 exist because Miyamoto had other ideas. And once again that has nothing to do with Mario Kart only having one game per system. This a fact and that how Nintendo manage it.
Why are you still stuck on this? lol So what if it hasn't ever happened before? It's going to happen for the first time (if it does). :) Look at Mario Kart Tour. Looks like Nintendo is loving having it's own prerogative lately. ;p
?? Has Nintendo ever confirm this? I've never heard this statement by this company ever. I'm extremely doubtful they're never going to make a Mario Kart for the switch. @moon-agreed I think this user is simply mistaking circumstance for Ironclad fact of something that could never be changed or broken. It is typical that we would get one but I've never heard this company ever give some official stance saying they would ONLY release a single 1 per generation. I have no idea why anybody would take such a thing as a literal idea. I mean his statement is not even just him saying it as an opinion he's literally making it sound as if it's 100% fact. Smh @DJ- the point being made is that this company has never had some sort of Ironclad specific rule on how many of a franchise they actually release, you simply might be looking at happenchance. The example is simply pointing out that the company has never 100% followed some Ironclad rule to never be changed for some bizarre reason. Sorry but you make no sense you offer nothing legitimate or official to back it up.
And has Nintendo ever made two Mario Kart games on any of their system since Super Mario Kart on SNES......I'll wait. Don't understand why yall can't comprehend. "There only one Mario Kart game per Nintendo system it's on. Unless Nintendo doesn't count 8 Deluxe as one. Then it will come year or two later for Switch." I am clearly saying what you guys are saying. READ
I bet my young kids will love this.
Bring back the double dash mechanic! I just modded my wii u to play gamecube games and im loving it.
I just modded my ps2 to play oculus vive roms
Lost me at Smart phone...
LOL why doesn't Nintendo make the one OBVIOUS game for mobile that would lend itself well to the platform (Mario Golf)?
Mario Kart was one of the most obvious Nintendo franchises that would do well on mobile. And that game will probably be on the Switch as well.
It's not obvious to me. Control mechincs on mobile racing games are garbage compared to playing with a controller.
