"With the release of WildCard's "Aberration" expansion pack "ARK: Survival Evolved" now feels like a fresher experience and is far more engaging, and this is the reason why." - Sharn Daniels, TGG.
Too bad is still runs bad and devs clearly are too lazy to really fix the issues.
Half the problems boil down to shitty internet speeds. I rent 3 servers and players with high internet speeds have 0 bluescreens 0 host disconnection and solid 30 ping. Players with low internet get lag/dc/ host dc. Considering the scope of this game it's rather amazing what they are doing and putting into their game. No other game is doing what Ark is doing.
MMOs have more server sided calculstions.. I mean I lag just walking through an area by myself and I see creatures glitch moving. MMOs like ESO handle 50+ player pvp chaos, and of course you'll see lag, but it's understandable. BF1 looks much better, 60fps, and can handle a ton of chaos. Ever been in an infinite ammo and grenade server? The server side shit needs to be reduced if connection had anything to do with the lag, because ARK still feels like Beta.
Thanks for the information, I had no idea about this. I know right? But most people seem to miss skip that part...
I agree that no other game is doing what ARK is doing, but it's also a pretty poorly optimized game. I haven't played the PC version but on PS4, it's a bit of a wreck. The building is glitchy and ridiculously frustrating, anytime you build anything of decent size it lags the game horribly when entering the area. Yes, I know you can "cheat" and just use a ton of gates, but that looks like hell to anyone wanting to build with some style or going for a particular look. Then there are still the issues with things randomly falling through the map like eggs. The last time I played Ragnarok was still cluttered with drop beacons that sit below the ground on in a rock and cannot be accessed. And there are still lots of people complaining about dinos randomly disappearing and cannot be found even with Transponder Nodes. Not to mention the things the devs themselves screw up on purpose like the raft eating fish that basically made rafts utterly useless and took out an entire form of gameplay, or the fact that vaults can no longer be placed on platforms which killed a lot of the mobile base ideas. Yes, I know about people dropping vaults in PvP, but there were other, more logical ways to fix that problem. Don't get me wrong, it has gotten better. For a long time after ARK released on PS4 it was a risk to fly anywhere as you would randomly get kicked out of the server and when you came back you were usually dead somewhere and your bird was still floating around high in the sky. That was a serious problem for months. A lot of the control issues have gotten better as well as most of the light artifacts that would blind the hell out of you anytime you looked at water. But as much as I love ARK, I firmly place Wildcard near the top of my list of the all time worst developers. Not just because their game was horribly broken when released and has taken months and months to get anywhere near half of the issues fixed, but because they refuse to take any sort of criticism and ban or otherwise silence anyone who offers complaints or even constructive criticism. They act like children 90% of the time when interacting with the public and to me, that is just unforgivable.
I have pointed out the issues that other players have told me to the devs (via their PR people). So it would be a good idea to mark that as a high-priority thing to fix.
I have a problem with early access game.
I understand that, and so do I.

As it's clearly a big problem that needs to be solved asap.
You mention other mmos. But they don't have massive building possibilities, 100s of dinos to tame. Thousands of items to render. Massive inventory. Playing with 100 other players. And then rendering And running all their dinos. And just the pure size of the game. Common ur list doesn't even compare. Its spectacular despite its faults. You decided early access, you should have waited I guess. ESO PVP chaos lol has nothing on ARK pvp
