Resident Evil 5 Producer Likes New Controls Better

The new "action" layout is more streamlined and intuitive for those more familiar with Western-style shooters. And for those more familiar with, say, RE4 controls, the game offers a "standard" layout. The new action layout also lets characters strafe when they move - something that RE players have long been asking for.

The story is too old to be commented.

I like the controls just as they were in RE4...
nothing needs to be fixed...

I'm glad they give you the option to switch to classic controls.

I liked Resident Evil's classic controls. The whole thing made the game scary because you had to use the directional pads to turn around in 90 degree intervals making those instances where you needed to just get the hell out even more difficult. I hope it's not changed and feels like an analog driven type of movement..wouldnt feel like RE to me.

still waiting for the occasion when a game producer says "I hate what we decided to change" BEFORE the game releases...

just like Lair...Eggebrecht constantly chiming in with "we are very happy with the decision to force motion controls; its a core part of the game design"...and then it beyond sucked...with Eggebrecht coming back "well we entirely fecked this game up"...or something along those lines...

its the buying public that will decide whether this worked or not...but its hardly news when some guy with a vested interest in selling the game chimes in telling us everything is great...

great reporting Kotaku...this truely is the best news I have read in a long time...
