This week on the 1UP Show they preview Gears of War 2's Single Player, Ninjatown, and give impressions of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. The 1UP Show is a weekly show that covers what's going on in the gaming world.
Not surprised that the xbox 360 version looks terrible, compression leads to poor graphics as witnessed by 99% of all xbox 360 games
Shane says. "Star ocean 4 looks good" "graphics look pretty good" "star ocean is a really good game, don't get down on it" There's more titles for you. you fail, as usual. title of this story should be, "1up yours 10/10/2008"
Then why did you approve this Montrealin? This commentor is the exact same person who posted the story with his 50 multiple accounts.
accident? :S I was the 10th approval... *runs and hides.* "damn you troll! daaaawwwwmmmm yoooouuuu diiiirrrttttyyy trroolllsss!!!!"
"99% of all 360 games" then what do you call the 99% of all the PS3 games that look worse? Anyone remember all the crack babies being born in the 80's? This ^^^ is what happens when they grow up.
This is the OPEN ZONE and the original poster is allowed to say whatever he wants to say, biatches.
Lanoir, The open zone works both ways, you know, as in we can say whatever we want to the brand whore fantarts, so how about you stfu?
i am pleasantly unsurprised since the RAGE tradegy that happened before.
i won`t be suprised, when PS3 version of Star Ocean 4 will be MUCH better. =)
of course, uncompressed equal better and crispy quality.
Meh,never played Star Ocean 3 so I dont really care, although I must say;If DVD9 is the culprit for the low-poly models, then Microsoft better come up with some compression solution for 3rd party devs. Back to LittleBigPlanet
Star Ocean 3 was a let down overall compare to the first two. But hay, that is just my opinion.
I'll have to see ALOT more of Star Ocean 4 before I buy it,hopefully they'll release a Demo as well
Star Ocean 3 was mediocre compared to its predecessors. This one looks like Star Ocean 3.5.
ya so3 was junk i think its just cause all these games try this real time junk now instead of turn based rpgs just havent been the same. though kingdom hearts did pull it off pretty well.
the screen grabs are probably from the ps3 version.
lol such a hater! It's an Xbox exclusive as of this moment! + They are showing it off in an MS booth which is next to Square's.
The sooner you're reduced to one star the better off everyone else on this site will be.
Good idea, reducing in process.
lol good one silogon I don't knw from what i saw it looked okay but i also only saw off screen vids
One can tell how good a game generally looks by the way the hair is rendered. PS3 FFXIII renders hair much better than 360's Star Ocean. Both games have the same status. Square-Enix is only working on the PS3 version of FFXIII and that's what they're only showing. Same thing for Star Ocean. No one's seen PS3 footage of it yet.
I must be by myself when I say I don't give a damn how refined the graphics are. Give me a story and gameplay like the last two and i'm off into the sunset with my purchase.
which is 30 feet apart. Get your facts straight. SE and MS are not buddy buddy. SE only has one buddy by the name of Money. Damn, I so want Wada to end TGS like he did at fking E3 just to shut fanboys like you up.
@ TheHater thats probably because rpgs are very large in scale and story... to have a part 3, 4, 5 etc is very ambitious.. final fantasy gets away with it because they actually do different stories not related to each other. think about how american tv shows start to suck because they try to stretch them out over 5 seasons U.K. tv shows are about 2 seasons long and for years after that people are begging for more maybe the star ocean team should have done a reboot or started something completely new..
agree. That why I stop watch TV, and just watch some moves, and sports. But back to Star Ocean. I really hope they don't do a reboot, because it just going to mess the story up even more than part 3. I am very interested on how the story is for this one. I want to see where the take it from where they left off in part 3.
I thought Star Ocean 4 is going to be a prequel.
it is? That news to me. If it is, then that a lot better.
http://xbox360.ign.com/arti... "With this highly anticipated prequel, acclaimed development studio tri-Ace Inc. brings the Star Ocean series to Xbox 360 for the first time." Edit: @TheHater No problem
That this game is better than Star Ocean 3, because that wasn't so good compare to Star Ocean 1 and 2. Anyway, I have high hope for this game, and hope they learn their lesson from Star Ocean 3: Till the End of Time
Man am I the only person that loved Star Ocean 3? And am I the only person that things Japanese developers are not ready to give Microsoft their best JRPGs until they're sure the 360 will be a real force in Japan? 12
I actually liked Star Ocean 3. I spend about 250 hours playing that game :) But compare to part 1 and 2, is was a let down.
Star Ocean 3 was great IMO. The Story was cool.
The story blew me away. 12
Tales of Vesperia? Eternal Sonata? They already got FFXIII.
Nah your not by yourself with loving 3. They could have done the item creation better but I enjoyed the story(When I jumped through the gate and went into 4D space I flipped out) and the battle system and characters I think were done well. Albel was my favortite character though: It doesn't matter how many maggots you've got, i'll crush them all... priceless. I can't understand why this game blasted the way it does.
forgot to add i have a missle toe in my back pocket for square and microsoft but in star oceans defense.. when is the release date? early builds aren't good for judging the final product.
February in Japan, and March in the State. Don't have a release date as yet for Europe
the game will be out march 3rd 09 for US. it was said at this year TGS
Ouch, about 4 months to get the game up to par. Actually less, since the game has to go gold and ship out.
fire on the hole XD XD
Stop making me laugh with that! xD
I feel bad for everyone who bought an xbox 360,all the jaggies and low polygon models must be pain for the eyes
360 games usually always hide low poly models behind shiny textures and extreme bloom effects. It's easy to develop games for a system where you can use graphical cop-out measures. ZING!!!
your bubbles are forfeit, CEO. you can get them back when you grow a brain and are capable of comprehending the concept of logical thought.
See, in order for the PS3 to run anything at 30fps at 540p, they have to chop out graphic detail by low poly's and characters and detail. The old graphics card and gimped memory relegates the PS3 to always looking worse than the same 360 title, as well as half the framerates. AKA MADDEN. But then there are powerhouse games on the PS3 like Haze and Lair to showcase the power of the PS3. Well, I am sure the Wii and PS2 can run these games better, so I shouldn't of mentioned those. But when even talented developers like 2K can't after a year, even match the 360 game with Bioshock, PS3 owners are getting quite used to dating the "Ugly Sister". PS3, the console that picks up the scraps.
Oh, nice try, but you using ports of 360 games is a tired arguement. It's effectively nullified by the fact that games such as Killzone 2, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank: Future and other excellent looking games that totally blow the look of most 360 games away. Yeah, HAZE was a piece of crap, as was LAIR. However, at least LAIR runs at 1080p. You really think that porting code from the 360 to the PS3's development architecture is a 1:1 process, eh? Keep telling yourself that Unreal Engine games are the pinnacle of visual fidelity. Now why again doesn't the 360 have any games that are 1080p and run at 60FPS like Wipeout HD? Also, LOL @ you using MADDEN of all games as an example of a console's power.
Yep, LAIR was 1080p, and it was a stuttering freak of a sideshow. Sorry, that game failed miserably graphically. (IGN rated it 7.5 in graphics) But then again, it was an early release, unlike Bioshock with an extra year of development, and it can't even run as smooth or look as good as the 360 version. Wipeout HD....ROTFLOL!!! Don't get me wrong, I have the game and find it fun, looks great and you can't beat the price. But lets get real, the graphics ain't nothing special and the game doesn't run at 1080p full time, actually when there are more that a few racers on screen, it drops the resolution to make up for the fact that the PS3 can't compute the relative simple environments with more than a few racers before dropping the framerates, which is far to common with PS3 games. Killzone 2 is about the only game that I say comes close to GeOW 2, the lighting on Killzone looks better but the textures on Killzone are something to be desired. Actually, after GeOW 2 is released, the only game that can be compared will be Killzone 2. Give up the 1080p argument already, the PS3 has failed miserably on this front. Any games that run at 1080p on the PS3 either suffer horrible framerate drops and screen tearing, or the graphics are simple with low polys and blurry textures. And you bet, Madden is a fantastic game to check actual power, with as many as 22 individual characters on screen at once doing individual tasks, physics and lighting, A.I and stadium renders with crowds, and guess what, 360 wins hands down. Face it, PS3 has been a huge disappointment in performance, and their lagging sales shows the consumers are finding out that it's overpriced, over hyped and under performs. The Facts don't lie!!! Uncharted......ROTFLOL.....
i like wipeout hd 1080p hd is so amazing
I find it funny that you are arguing on how the ps3 games run at low res and low framerates when in reality the ps3 has more games to run at native 1080p than the 360, despite having less titles overall.
Wipeout HD doesn't drop the resolution when there's more racers on screen. My TV blue screens for a moment when the source changes resolution. Games don't just change resolution, and certainly not while racing. If it did it on the fly, my TV would be flashing like mad and the game would be unplayable.
What Agent doesn't realize, is that Wipeout HD is such a technical marvel because it is the first console game to feature a dynamic framebuffer. ------- "They're not 1080p in the sense that the resolution is no longer 1920x1080. WipEout HD is now rendering at 1280x1080 (with some screen tear to boot), which I'm fairly sure is the game's lowest resolution - but still a 50% resolution increase over 720p. So what's happening? Basically WipEout HD is the first game I've come across that seems to be operating with a dynamic framebuffer. Resolution can alter on a frame-by-frame basis. Rather than introduce dropped frames, slow down or other unsavoury effects, the number of pixels being rendered drops and the PS3's horizontal hardware scaler is invoked to make up the difference. It's an intriguing solution that works with limited impact on the overall look of the game (the tearing has far more of an impact on image quality - I'm assuming that kicks in when the framebuffer can't scale any lower). The actual amount of horizontal resolution being dropped can change on a frame by frame basis: 1728x1080, 1645x1080, 1600x1080, 1440x1080. All have been seen in the Digital Foundry TrueHD captures. The shots above appear to be 1500x1080. The dynamic framebuffer is really quite an innovative solution to the perennial 1080p problem. Even though we're seeing major differences in resolution, the human eye really will have trouble realising the difference when the detail level is changing so rapidly in such a fast moving game. In short, it's making an advanced-looking game like WipEout HD work at 1080p60 and that's pretty damn awesome." http://www.vgchartz.com/for...
1080p doesn't mean sh*t. sorry. Wipeout hd being 1080p doesn't make it a better game than MGS4 running at 720p. So shove the 1080p vs. 720p back up your ass.
LOL, you are an absolute fool.
Anyway, I don't like the sound of this preview, but I'm still holding hope that this will turn out well. I haven't played a good Star Ocean game since the second one (the first Star Ocean was one of the most epic RPG's ever made, IMO), so hopefully they can pull this game off. The screenshots looked so good, but from the sound of it, those might have been bullshots this whole time...
I've said this before, and it's the truth. It looks like Star Ocean 4 is using the same engine from 3, just with updated graphics. You can tell by the animations easily. Even the main character's body and looks are extremely similar to Fayt from Star Ocean 3. I'd still enjoy it cause I'm a Star Ocean fan, but if you want to have a real Star Ocean experience, get a PSP and the upcoming remakes of the first two games.
The character models are ALWAYS relatively low polygon count. The Unreal Engine is good at texturing to hide this, but if you have ever played Unreal Tournament 3 or Gears of War and have seen the textures pop in, you can see how low the poly counts on the models are before being textured up.
This isnt using the unreal engine. My guess is that its using the same engine in infinite undiscovery, but star ocean 4 looks much much better.
SO4 characters are high-poly. See for yourself: http://www.gametrailers.com...
The shaders and texture work are somewhat low-res. This is an early build, however, and I have a feeling the game will turn out great by the time it's released next year.
It's become typical of japanese games to lack modern special effects. They seem stuck in 1999 in terms of texture technology. But the characters and animations look good.
SO many people that have no clue what this is, a random quote, taken out od context as a title for a podcast? This is flamebate, posted by one of this site biggest Tr*lls.
equals n4g =)
this is how this site whores out hits. Because multiple reports to the admin of this guy fall on def ears. Agreed, if you listen to the podcast Troll boy has basically taken a comment out of context and is passing it off as the whole story. To add spice, he includes the PS3 section which is game has not been announced for. The game isn't even finished yet in SO's defense. Man, ps3 owners are sure hurt about this not coming to the PS3.
John Schappert, VP of Xbox Live, said that it is exclusive at TGS. The SO4 site also shows it is exclusive.
But this game is a flop. Man, SE is turning out to be a total let down this gen.
Hate me for this but where's my PS3 version ^^
No hate here from me, only love in bubble shape
^ At least someone rational. Bubble 4 ya'
The game's still almost 5 months away from release. Be patient.
