They probably found away to add more microtranactions for those servers and the servers are on overload

Or maybe the Hacker group Anonymous teaching Ea a lesson about Loot crate misrepresentation .

EA's AI got out of control and did what it was programmed to do, come up with ways to add MT's. Problem was it did it to EA's servers, cost them 2 billion and 2.5 million loot boxes later the servers are finally fully unlocked again.

It is probably due to the end of net neutrality. The providers probably told EA "you like providing your service huh, well you betta cough up more dough or your servers will be sleepin' wit da fishes'
