Super Mario 64 might be the father of platformers, but an extremely compelling case can be made that Banjo-Kazooie is actually the best platform game for the N64, and one of the best Nintendo 64 games, period.
and that Tooie is a lot better than Kazooie? :D
The camera was definitely better. Both amazing games
So people aren't allowed different opinions now ?
On the internet, it's always been that way
The golden age of Rare when they took on Nintendo's quality toe to toe. Now their golden era is long gone and no longer recognize them.
Sea if thieves looks promising, hope it’s a good one.
Maaan.. Sea of Thieves does look kind of interesting.. But Rare wasn't making, "interesting", back in the N64 days. They were making LEGEND. SOT has no chance to match their glory days.
Let's hope SoT is a quality title. It certainly looks to be. I'm not all that interested in a return of the old Rareware...I just want the todays Rare to produce good games NOW. I wish that SoT is the start of that.
Its looks good. We shall see what happens.
i have had many hours of fun in the sot alpha super hyped for the full release but i can't believe microsoft are sitting on ip like banjo, conker and perfect dark and not doing anything about it
It's time to admit jak and Daxter is the bessssssssssssssssssssssssssss ssssssss
I found Jak and Daxter to be a "bare-boned" platformer when compared to Super Mario 64 and the Banjo games.
If only you realized how triggered I am
Jak and Daxter was my first platinum trophy. So there's that...
Jak and Daxter... Whaaaat??? That entire series was B+ at best, come on.
If that's the case, Banjo and Mario 64 must be in the D- territory
I liked the first Jak and Daxter quite a bit. Later games did nothing for me. Ratchet & Clank took that ball, and ran a lot further with it.
But it's not
This is purely an opinion piece and it is purely clickbait
Why? I enjoyed both. Personally, DK64 was my favorite, but there’s no factual basis that any N64 platformer was better than the others.
Agreed, I prefer Dk64 over pretty much every other 3d n64 game.
Dk64 was very fun but there were way too many collectibles.
Mario 64 is obviously great, but I do feel like Banjo Kazooie one-upped it. Still, no Mario 64; no Banjo.
Gotta admit that i liked Banjo Kazooie better than M64 back in the day, but that doesn't mean its a better game.
That's exactly what that means.
I mean both are good in their own right... I personally prefer SM64, but you cannot deny the charm of B&K
Oh hell naw he didn’t!
They're both better than Yooka-Laylee that's for dang sure.
It's time to admit that this is hyperbole and you're a rubbish journalist
Both certainly were amazing games but Banjo Kazooie was always better in my eyes ever since I was a kid.
Seems like most people here with an opinion were still swimming around in they're daddy's ballsack circa 98
Hands down the best game of its kind ever created banjo that is
Eh I personally disagree but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Banjo Kazooie was good... But to this day if I boot up "It's a me! Mario!" I still get goosebumps. Fact of the matter is without Mario they'd be no Banjo and it's kind of hard calling such a derivative game better than the most influential 3D platformer of all time.
Banjo-Kazooie looked better than Mario64 but it did come later on, Rare obviously learned a lot from Mario. 2 of my all time favourite platformer's.
Both great games, liked banjo but found the frame rate a little choppy and the camera was a pain at times. Personally Mario 64 was, is the better game.
Both are amazing but Mario 64 is a perfect game, where as Banjo Kazooie is more of a close to basic version of Zelda game
What? Mario 64 was revolutionary and while Banjo Kazooie may have improved the genre, Mario 64 kicked off the 3D gaming which changed gaming to this day. Pretty much every open world game was influenced by Mario 64 the same cannot be said for Banjo Kazooie.
It basically took Super Mario 64, and added and improved certain mechanics and other things that needed improvement. It certainly didn’t have the impact of SM64 but it was fantastically well made and took it a step further. What’s with making comparisons? Sometimes a game is simply ‘better’, (just like anything else) because of timing. Banjo wasn’t the first to do it, even if they improved it. Diddy Kong Racing was better than Mario Kart 64, but, once again, not first. Let’s be honest, all of these games have stood the test of time, and Rare was the SHIT in the late 90s-early 00s
Of course Banjo was better; but Mario 64 was revolutionary for all of gaming.
Not even close tbh. Mario 64 was not only better than BK, it's the best 3D Mario game to date.
I enjoyed Banjo-Kazooie significantly more than Super Mario 64. Been saying it for years, and hearing it from dedicated gamers for years (as an assistant manager at a video game store).
No, Mario 64 was way more amazing. It's also way more fun. Was the first time i also got excited for the metal effect on metal mario.
A lot of 90s platform games were better than mario 64 actually
Exactly a lot people are ODing on nostalgia Mario 64 wasn't even the first 3d Platformer It got released after Crash Bandicoot.
My favourite game on the N64 when I was just a kid was donkey Kong 64 lol. I just couldn't get enough of it. I remember playing abit of banjo and mario but never completed either of them. Good memories.
Banjo Tooie was but not Kazooie. Banjo Tooie having multiplayer gave it the edge for me
Banjo Kazooie was the best N64 platformer, of course it was much better than SM64.
Hell no its not. I love super mario 64 and honestly I still feel its way ahead of its time in all aspects. Didn't get this vibe from banjo at all even thiugh it is a fantastic game. Banjo doesn't even feel the same while mario keeps getting better and more unique.
