Dragon Ball FighterZ: More Information on the Open Beta, Will Have 11 Playable Characters

Haha, Xenoverse... Sure... The grindfest where you just do the same attacks over and over again until you win? Xenoverse looked nice, but it was all flash over substance. Can't really comment on the second game, but I completed the first.

Meanwhile, Fighterz will have an actual competitive online base of hardcore fighting game fans. Not to mention it's clearly a labor of love with countless nods to the anime/manga.

I realize I shouldn't even bother replying to such a trollish comment, but I'm slightly intoxicated and all too ready to hop on this beautiful game the moment it launches! So ready for the Dragonball game of my dreams next month!

You know, I agree with this.....kind of.

Fighter Z doesn't look to capture the feel of Dragon Ball Z. Meaning it doesn't look like it will feel like you are actually in an episode of DBZ. But I don't feel Xenoverse did that perfectly either. Dragon Ball Tenkaichi 2 and 3 did that perfectly. The 2 Xenoverse games were just missing something. In particular, I hate the dash system, as well as the transformations. Tenkaichi did both of those perfectly.

Having said that, Fighter Z looks awesome! But Marvel vs Capcom 2 is my favorite fighter of all time, and this looks like it is taking a lot of inspiration from that. It doesn't have to have the authentic feel of DBZ fights to be a great, and fun game. So I'm really looking forward to it.

I definitely wish they would make a Tenakichi 4 though.

Oh, a competent person on this forum, how refreshing :) I agree, Fighter Z looks great for a standard fighting game to compete against Marvel VS Capcom and such, however.. Xenoverse is great, because it's basically like Tenkaichi, but you can make your own character in the universe and I really cannot go back on that.. it's much cooler becoming your own character, than playing one of those who already exist in the universe... but true, Tenkaichi was mazing, especially Tenkaichi 2.. almost every single attack/ability was not an non-active animation, you could almost charge and let go on all of the abilities in Tenkaichi 2.. and THAT was awesome.

Exactly! And I get what you mean. I loved being able to create my own character also. (Still not sure why they left Androids out as a race in both games but thats just nit-picking).

Xenoverse was ALMOST there for me. I feel like if they would have kept the mission system and character creation from Xenoverse and just did an exact copy/paste job of the combat and transformation systems from the Tenkaichi games, then we would be left with the perfect DBZ game. I loved choosing a character's base form and working my way up through all of their transformations in Tenkaichi. And that they were permanent with no timer.
