The action-adventure game from publisher and developer Ubisoft - Assassin's Creed Origins - sold 1,506,819 units first week at retail, according to VGChartz estimates.
Congrats Ubi. Well deserved. Origins breathed new life into the franchise. The setting is spot on, so is the main character . The game plays really well and looks stunning too.
Do you think they’ll plan a trilogy with bayek like they did with ezio?
Bayek is definitely one of the better protagonists to come out of the AC franchise. Hopefully they are able to keep the game and story interesting. Origins is definitely a step in the right direction.
The series is back with a vengeance
Nice and well deserved
Its a huge sucess for Ubisoft!
The game is good, that's all that matters.
Great. Love this game
How's the music in this game? Thinking bout picking it up
Great job Ubisoft this game is excellent on Da X
And every other console.
Do u have it on every console? Pretty sure he's basing it off of experience.
One Love is assuming it becomes a different game on other consoles.
@atticus seeing as how that's very possible. Yes. Even though you are going for a stretch.
What I find interesting is that even though media focus and marketing for this game was still catered toward MS and Xbox one X. It didn’t seem to even dent the PS4s sales coming in at less then half the amount PS4 sold. I guess a beefier system/version isn’t really something people care about.
People buy games for the systems they have, and there are twice as many people who have PS4s compared to XBO. That marketing will mostly just affect people looking at new console purchases.
True, however gaming forums will always have you believe otherwise when you see a few people here and there pop up saying "I sold system X to play this on system Y". It just showed how that is still a thought process of a minority effect.
I'm really enjoy Origins so far, and it's definitely what AC needed. The setting feels fresh and the quests are much more interesting this time around.
Bought it with Steam.. finished the story.. it s excellent game..
Very disappointing game
This. It is just a boring fast travel open world game. You will spend a few hours worth of time on the damn loading screen alone as you'll be using the fast travel feature a lot. The storyline pacing is shit, side quests are boring, collectibles are nonsense, combat is awful compared to Dark Souls, and there are many other problems that I can't be assed to mention, but I have hit a few glitches that crashed the game. It gets even worse, you buy the gold edition that has the season pass, and that still does not give you all the addon content you could buy off the store, despite paying over $100 for the game, so it is a ripoff too.
almost zero loading on the X
Lol why were you expecting Dark Souls combat? The combat is very good compared to the other Assassin's Creed games. I have it on the X and didn't notice the loading times as an issue, I recently 100% the game so maybe I just didn't fast travel that often. Also, I thought most of the side quests were very interesting, not Witcher 3 level interesting but not that far off.
As a huge Assassin's Creed fan for the first five games in the series (Desmond's story), I have to agree. The series has been going downhill since after III for me. I know people love Blackflag, and I did enjoy it, but it wasn't a good Assassin's Creed game. Starting with IV they really felt lost on what to do with this series, the yearly dev cycle had caught up to them, the stories were all pointless, filled with useless characters (Bishop, who is she, what's her purpose?). Yes, the gameplay needed to be improved, but Origins was not the right direction. The freerunning is so streamlined that basic moves have been removed because of it. The combat is 'organic' unlike the earlier games with 'locked-in animations' but the combat still isn't any good. Just keep mashing R1 and R2, occasionally press both at the same time and you can beat 99% of everything in your way. There's no real thought behind any of it. Ubisoft Montreal was desperate to appeal to us, so they copied other games (Shadow of War and Dark Souls), but they didn't do it in an intelligent way. Freerunning is not BETTER its slightly worse. The combat is not BETTER, its just DIFFERENT. The story is embarrassing, especially towards the end, its feels forced and laughable. During a poignant moment in the ending, something happens that was supposed to be 'cool', instead I laughed at how dumb it was. The game world is so huge, but there's nothing interesting to do in it. Its all just repetitive filler checklists, just like all the other games that had come before, except this game was even more egregious. The AI is just as bad as its always been, a bunch of half-blind dummies that can't hear anything. They either use a bow or just charge forward and attack, there really is nothing else to them. This game had one bit of potential with a certain character I won't spoil, but they completely dropped the ball in this regard, forcing you to play the sequel in the hopes of getting some form of character progression what a disappointment. The series has gone in the wrong direction, its just a bloated time waster now, a massive world earning pointless EXP, ability points, crafting materials, money, its all filler without value. The series should have streamlined all this 'content' and focused on telling a memorable story with great characters and giving the enemies some form of basic AI. But without the original creator of the series, Patrice Désilets, I'm not hopeful.
