According to Marcus Sellars Bandai Namco is developing Metroid Prime 4 and it will be revealed in January's direct.
doubt it will happen but you never know.
This could be really good... I like the concept of N letting third party devs, especially the more popular ones, make their games. They have amazing talent, and could breathe new life into old franchises. I'm sure N will be over their shoulders the entire time to ensure it still keeps the Nintendo feel.
Yeah it makes a 2018 release more likely
Really? As opposed to 2017, 2021, 2029?
For the record though I don’t buy it. This will make Sellars a superstar or infamous.
Bamco does fighting games, why the hell would they be working on MP4, a first-person action/adventure game!? makes no sense. I call BS.
I don't disagree, but Bandai Namco is pretty decent. Regardless, if there's no reveal at the January Direct, no one will mention Sellars again.
They could always be helping with the grunt work while a Nintendo team handles most of the gameplay systems, etc . . . Not necessarily saying that's what is happening, but it's not out of the realm of possibility.
Namco has developed Nintendo games before as well as Capcom. Namco, Capcom, Nintendo have a team known as the tri-force and they have each made games for Nintendo. Namco has also done the Mario Kart arcade edition so it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility.
Agreed I was actually just going to say the same thing they actually have a pretty long history of working on Nintendo games, so I don't really see this as a surprise if true.
They also make RPGs, Action Adventures, Mech games and sports games. Miyazaki and From Software is cooking up something interesting and Bandai Namco publish their games every now and then, perhaps one of their projects is actually this?
You here saying Bamco only does fighting games when they also made games like Dark Soul & The Witcher Series
From Software made Dark Souls CD Project Red made The Witcher
Namco Bandai help publish market and distribute The Witcher 3, they did not create it this is simply because CD projekt Red is a small independent developer they do not publish Market or distribute so they needed an assistance from a seasoned publisher in that area.
Will you would have to understand that it would not be the first time they've worked with Nintendo to Outsource a game. It might not make sense to you but it doesn't mean it's not true.
This again? Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Nintendo confirm MP4 was being developed by a new in-house team? I could swear they said that right when they announced the game.
it's in the article. Nintendo said that it was being developed led be the series producer and a brand new talented group of developers, but it never outright states that it's in-house. I'm not sure I believe this either but Sellars is intent on it and does know people. We'll really have to see. IMO if anything it would more be like they'd help out like Monolith helped out a little on Zelda; nothing to write home about. It would be huge IF there was a real trailer during the Direct in January though.
I remember them mentioning a few key developers but I don't recall them ever confirming the team. This would not be the first time that Nintendo has worked with Namco Bandai so it would not really be a shock if that's true.
Hopefully it turns out to be good if its true Metroid Other M wasn't that good by Team Ninja.
if we get a trailer in January and it comes out next year I will literally cry.
I’m skeptical. But then again knowing Nintendo who knows
Same here bro, same here
I'll be surprised if there's a trailer next month. That's sooner than expected.
I agree, but no one thought we’d even get Xenoblade this year or a Zelda and Mario game so anything’s possible
I can't imagine them giving Metroid Prime away after Metroid Other M...especially a main numbered game
Samus Returns turned out pretty great though, and that’s made by a third party.
It's a remake of a good game...unlike making a brand new game from the ground up Completely different
What fox is saying is correct because you're comparing a remake of something that already existed that is not a ground-up title. Very different scenario because Metroid Prime 4 is not simply some sort of remake of another Metroid Prime game (I hope not)
I agree so I'm actually a little worried.
The entire game plays completely different though. They just took the basic premise of it.
Have you ever played a ‘Metroid’ game before?
@shwaa I’ve played and beaten every main Metroid game but Fusion
Hopeful, but not getting myself excited. If true, I sure hope Bandai is up for the challenge of living up to the original trilogy.
I'm note sure how I feel about that
Rumors rumors are no fun Rumors rumors hurt someone
Please just let it be NST
I hope this is true
I hope they do show it off soon. I would love to see MP4.
If this is as good as Metroid Prime was on the GC I may just have to invest in switch. One of my all time favorite games, got a GC for it.
Ummm ok. So my expectations of this game just lowered exponentially.
The so-called rumor spawned from a speculation on ResetEra. It was never actually rumored.
My most anticipated nintendo ip... Id def even settle for a tech demo. Id even be fine with a 2d metroid
A Metroid Prime Trilogy HD Release would also be MOST welcome one Switch.
Switch is king.
Does Nintendo not want to work on Metroid directly anymore? Considering Team Ninja and Mercury Steam worked on Other M and Samus Returns respectively, it seems like they're looking for new talent to work on it instead of handling it in-house. Then again, Retro is a pretty small studio (<100 people, if I recall) and it may not be feasible to have them work on it. They're possibly working on something else too. I trust Nintendo with their IPs. I'm not against Bandai Namco working on it, but I also think that, since this is a canon Metroid Prime game, they need to be heavy-handed with quality control.
