Will the games industry be digital only within 20 years, and would that be a good thing?
20 years is such a long time in technology, I can’t even guess how things will go.
Definitely all digital.
If for some shitty reason it does, then I won't be gaming anymore.
Will we still be seeing pointless opinion pieces like this in 20 years? That's the better question.
Hard to say, but consider we still have vinyl and CD album releases. Physical will be around for as long as people buy them.
I hope it will be sooner than that.
I hope not, i still enjoy physical copies!
Hell, if you would've asked me this question 4 years ago, I would've said you were full of it. But now, it's a legitimate question. I say it won't, but only for the sake of game collecting and libraries, as many digital-only games nowadays are getting physical releases as well.
If our government gets rid of net neutrality, you can kill on line gaming goodbye. The cost to download one game will make it not worth it.
Most likely, assuming Net Neutrality doesn’t get killed, allowing the FCC and ISP’s to literally bend us over a table and reem our out buttholes with a banjo neck
