Humanity and the Failings of Heroism: Looking Back at Dead Space 3

OnlySP: "For many fans, Dead Space 3 is a maligned bastard child suffering from bloat, soullessness, corporate hijacking, and too many concessions to the third-person shooter. Nevertheless, the game takes pains to rectify some of the sins of its predecessor to get back in touch with its horror roots. Unfortunately, the attempt to strike a balance between the new and old is just one of the ways in which the title is at odds with itself. Despite the tonal dissonance created by these juxtapositions, they serve to make Dead Space 3 the most human game of the series."

The story is too old to be commented.

It ruined a great series so bad I just pretend it dosen't exist and in the future a developer will do a 3rd game which ignores the previous 3rd game.

developer can't ignores 3rd game story if they do 4 (since DLC end with cliffhanger) or new dead space that still have issac clark protaganist. unless they decide reboot the series (start from ishimura again)

I would honestly wait then and reboot it with a similar story

Think the RE Remake which fixes the original games issues, changes things around, adds onto the story so when they do the third game in the remake timeline it'll be differen't

Best thing they can do with the remake is give him a voice since he gained one in the sequel.

The original Dead Space was an amazing sci-fi survival horror with Alien influence. One of my favourite games of last gen.

The sequel was a let down as it just upped the action and gore and lost most of the tension of the original. I didn't bother with the 3rd game after that.

It's a good game that could have been so much better, had EA not stepped in. Still worth playing, just a shame, this could have been such a fantastic trilogy.
Whoever hasn't looked up "The Dead Space 3 the developers wanted to make" should. Very interesting (especially considering the controversy nowadays) and a perfect example of EA being EA.

DLC "Awakened" pretty much "The Dead Space 3 the developers wanted to make"

NordicRainy88d ago

Definitely a glimpse of it at least.

Reminds me a little of the real RE5 when it was RE4.5

Then the big suits at Capcom were like "Add co-op" and it totally changed

If you watch video. Dead Space 3 still have Co-op with or with out intervene from EA.

Dead Space 3 was in my opinion a good game. It just wasn’t scary, and the human vs human combat felt unnecessary. I loved building my own weapons, but ammo was too easy to manage. Issac went from a slow moving engineer to a hardened soldier in a game that at times felt like a cheap 3rd person shooter.

I completed #1 & 2, absolutely one of my favourite game experiences. #2 was such a great sequel.

Never bothered with #3 other than the 2 player demo... Kinda glad my experience wasn't tainted!
