3DS vs PSP – VGChartz Gap Charts – September 2017 Update

In the latest month the gap grew by 42,660 units in favor of the PSP and by 2.24 million units in favor of the PSP in the last 12 months. The PSP currently leads by 2.37 million units.

An important note is that the two handhelds launched at different times of the year. The PSP first launched in December 2004, while the 3DS launched in February 2011. The 3DS has sold 67.63 million units, while the PSP sold 70.00 million units.

? They both did well period, except that the psp had a very low attach rate since many gamers just wanted to play emulators on the go.

considering the 3DS family has a big fat NINTENDO printed on it, seeing how it trails the PSP is not something that you can consider as success. the handheld gaming market is really getting hit hard by mobiles.

The 3ds isn’t quite dead yet, not many new games but I suspect they have another year of Xbox one like sales.
