PS Blog: Resistance: Retribution & Resistance 2 Interoperability and Then Some

Playstation.Blog writes: "Hi everyone, my name is John Garvin, co-director of SCEA's Bend Studio, and I wanted to give everyone a quick update on Resistance: Retribution. Chris Reese (my co-director at the studio) and I are in Tokyo this week presenting Resistance: Retribution at TGS. After our game was revealed at E3 in July, we got a lot of questions about connectivity between Resistance: Retribution and Resistance 2 on the PS3. We're pretty excited to announce that yes, we will be providing additional game play and features if you connect R:R to R2! Here's how it works."

Great idea by Sony. I know the Remote Play gameplay stuff is kinda useless since there's some lag, but it would be kinda cool if they did vice versa and had Remote Play support for R2 as well. Add on infected mode and R:R and R2 is even more of a must-buy

"...I know the Remote Play gameplay stuff is kinda useless..."

On the contrary, I love remote play; I played the greater part of the entire original Metal Gear Solid game earlier this year, streamed right through to my PSP.

Although it can't compare to sitting in front of big-screen TV, with a cozy lil' Sixaxis at hand, it is an absolute Godsend for those of us who don't always have the luxury of doing so.

hey this adds a lot more replay value to the games and opens up a new story so this is aways a plus. I want to see what else Sony can do with PSP and Ps3.

This is pretty impressive, I've been considering a PSP-3000 for a while (for when they come out that is) and this is kind of pushing me closer towards it.

I have a question though if someone could answer it'd be sweet. Can I play mp3 and videos like movies I've downloaded or ripped from one of my dvd's on the PSP? I know they'd probably have to go on some form of external memory for the PSP but is it possible to convert say a .avi format movie for PSP and play it on there?

Thanks in advance.
