Nintendo of America President and CEO Reggie Fils-Aime said that Nintendo relishes “being different” when it comes to online play and connectivity on the Nintendo Switch.
Being different doesn't put you away from the obligation in being up to current times, this being "different" is just a lame justification for its badly design handheld called Switch.
Reggie Fils-Aime "We see that difference as an element that makes us more compelling to the consumer,” Fils-Aime noted." No native voice chat. No invites. No party system. No matchmaking. Nintendo have done a great job with the Switch and its unique place as a home/portable gaming system. No one is asking them to emulate the PS4/XBO model. However the online system for Switch owners needs to be improved as it is lacking the most essential features.
Proof you don't have a Switch nor do research. Matchmaking is coming with the Online Service Online games on Switch have Friend Invites In-Game. I do this all the time in Xenoverse 2.
@DJK!NG_Gaming. Honestly appraising the online service is not the same thing as hating. You attempt to dispute my point about the matchmaking service - then say it is 'coming.' Instead of pretending everything is perfect why not tweet Nintendo - this could be a powerful message that helps them recognise that there are areas where they can improve the online service so YOUR experience is better.
No wonder Nintendo put a muzzle on Reggie recently.
Reggie forever chatting shit.
The console itself is amazing, the online component is a different story. Nintendo needs to change their approach cause right now, they're doing it ass backwards.
somebody should give Reggie this image http://quicklol.com/wp-cont...
The switch design is absolutely phenomenal aesthetically pleasing, durable, comfortable, and innovative Now if u are only referring to its online ability from the article..then yes, they have some work to do in that department. I believe they are listening and the paid service will provide at least 1/2 of the services competing systems have.
Does 'different' mean you could sell 1999 hardware with a 240p screen for 199$?
Being different as in primitive?? So expect an experience worth 20 bucks a year
Reggie doesn't seem to understand the difference between inexperience and being different.
Even the PS3 in 2007 had a more reasonable online than Switch. Reggie needs to build an online team for the 21st century on Switch.
Are "different" and "barely existent" the same thing?
My biggest complaint as a new Switch owner was a lack of headset support. With that latest update I can use my PlayStation Gold headset, and it is great. I have no interest in multiplayer games on Switch, but with the headset support they seem to be moving in the correct direction for most that care. No excuses, I just happen to be satisfied as a consumer. If I cared about online with SWITCH, no way I’d be satisfied. I am definitely not giving Nintendo money for online, but I will damn sure keep playing their single player games.
Yeah, me too. My switch is purely to play Nintendo games and possibly exclusives if they exist. As for everything else, I'll play on Scorpio or PS4. Online is being advertised as being more costly that Sony's or MS' services. That's simply not gonna cut it, unless you only have Switch,of course.
It needs to evolve though.. Its functional which is good but needs to be overhauled.. They would make so much more money too..
I've said all along that Nintendo likes being different for the sake of being different, even when it is detrimental to the experience. Great job making the Switch appealing to those who bought one, but to launch a new platform in two thousand and seventeen without even half a robust online system is inexcusable.
Nintendo relishes in proving underwhelming online services and its never going to change
By "different" he means ass backwards.
“Being different” shouldn’t have to involve your cellphone in 2017 for online gameplay.
The epitome of a corporate shill.
Nintendo may call it "being different", I call it "being lazy".
does nintendo ever stop the damage control? Just make an actual good product for once...
Reggie's body is apperantly not ready for onIne capabilty.
Looks to be more expensive than either PS4 or XB1 online service. That simply doesn't add up to me. I'll stay offline until I see how they are justifying the extra cost.
just bring out switch with good online play like the compatition. how foes nintendo believe they can even compete with out such a thing. something as simple as chat or sending messages to friends online. absurd.
Nintendo needs to abandon this line of thinking when they release the subscription service next year. People only put up with their underwhelming services in the past because it was free.
Fine Nintendo, you can be different if you want. But try and make sure there's functionality that can be considered standard for 2017 as well. A basic messaging system, join game function, and a way to easily voice chat on the console should all be taken care off. Make it as unique as you want, just give us the basics as well.
