It’s been a busy week for new releases with most major titles trying to avoid each other by releasing on different days, or simply launching early in the week in order to get good visibility as the week unfolds.
As expected GT sports gonna crush forza 7
with twice the userbase i would expect it to sell better. One area it didn’t crush forza in was being a good game. the thing that matters, seeing as it’s a game
Logical comments have no place on N4G lol
where did you put that goal post? I could of swore it was right here a moment ago.
This is UK. In UK PS4 leads by 1.6:1. And this Xbox's second strongest market. If in UK is almost 3:1, then imagine sales in Germany, Italy, Spain,...where Xbox One doesn't exist.
Kribwalker. Forza 7 was released for PC / Xbox One, so an installed base larger than GT Sport on PS4, this argument doesn't work. Hilarious damage control attempt from you guys
While I believe Forza has become the more "fun" franchise, user scores on Metacritic disagree. There's a lot of gray area with reviews though. People will say they're paid when working against their favor or valid when it favors their opinion. User scores, similarly, are brushed off as fanboy down votes, but surely that is true in both circumstance. To that end, the disparity between user and reviewer scores says a lot: basically, you can't draw any conclusions regarding which is "better". I certainly can't since I've yet to play either. I seriously doubt you have either.
Such a good game, yet sales are declining? 🤔 LMAO😂
Have you played it?
Almost every review I've read said it was a good game. Said the driving was much better than prior games. Seems there is a lot of praise for the new direction it's being taken in in the reviews department. The thing which seems to be holding it back is the apparent lack of content, and the MP focus, which ironically is part of the same thing it's been praised for. Game is currently sitting at 76 on meta. While not an amazing score, it's certainly not a score conducive to lumping it into being a bad game.
LMAO. Damn, the hurt is real...with your comment. Sounds like some kid on a play ground frustrated that he lost in a game of kick ball or something. Guess your opinion was not shared by many, seeing as many more people actually cared to buy Gran Turismo over Forza. Gran Turismo not only crushes it's competition every time, but crushes feelings from those who wish to see it fail! Bahahahaha.
So you're excited an inferior game sold better than one a team of people poured their hearts and souls into and made an incredible game that did well with critics? Nice!
since you were involved in the developpement of the game, did you ask them why they include loot boxes in it?
1st GT sport confirmed 😁
The king returns
Of course!! No matter what it's GT.
Yep, even the lowest rated one stripped of features and cars. Likely just that player base, wonder what the attach rate is so far.
Can't take it huh?
I have no stake in that race. I can however accept that playstation's longest living ip is slowly dying. :)
Slowly dying? It easily outsells Forza. GT 5 outsold the last 4 Forza franchise games combined. Each Forza game has sold less than previous entries on a downward trend. Which makes no sense as there are more Xbox systems each year they are out so explain that.
How is it slowly dying? Explain.
"I can however accept that playstation's longest living ip is slowly dying" Hot Shots Golf(Sony's longest living IP) is slowly dying? I thought it was continuously growing in sales with each release. While not an overly advertised title, it is always well received. Sucks that Hot shots golf is slowly dying. I love that series. Didn't realize the last title did poorly. Also...what's with the smiley face in your comment? For someone with no stake in the race, why would you show happiness that a franchise is dying. Particularly one that isn't milked with yearly installments.
Gratz PD my friends and I are having a blast.
Well deserved, the game is solid, its a different gt, while it does feel like a new game it still has that gt feel to it, the cars are still the star, the details are amazing and the controls are excellent, going through arcade mode at the moment to beat them all on professional then will move on to the campain, online after that lol.
Sport mode is the meat and potatoes of this game. The new daily events today are FREAKING GREAT.
GT5 is the GTA5 of the racing world, like it's just that monster that just kept on growing no matter how old it got people were buying it just as consistent. It was a unicorn of a game when it came to sales, came out with a 60/70 million user base after countless delays. Shhhh GT Prologue sold more copies than all forza games except 3 i believe... and that was just to hold us over for 5 lOl which was a 2 years lapse. I mean... GTSport will do well, I think it'd get 6-8 million sold in it's lifetime easily.. which is once again far more than Forza has ever sold lOl... and that's low for a GT game.
GT Sport is going to have the longest legs of the series.
The power of a brand name.
It's more than that. Look, I hate online focus in GTS, but the gameplay is still the same like older GT games. Forza Motorsport 7 isn't just copy and paste, but it's change core gameplay too much like rewind and others stuffs.
Don’t see what any of that has to do with my post.
You know you can turn off all the arcade stuff like the turn arrows and rewind, right?
@Jinger turn arrows? do you mean the racing line? because that is something that is in more sims than arcade. i personally dont use the racing line as once you are in a pack of racers its very difficult to stay true to the racing line, instead im using the racing cones and markers
@fishy i know what he is talking about, and has something to do with your comment, its not only about brand loyalty its about the game play that gt offers and the more realistic aspect to racing then what forza provides for individuals.
Unforce. This must be the joke of the year. Forza being the prime example of a cookie cutter iteration every year. Gt being the one rebuild from the ground up.
To maintain the momentum of a brand name throughout four generations is no easy task (Halo/CoD come to mind). If you were correct, then GT6 would have easily outsold GT5 on launch, given the higher install base, but people didn't see enough reasoning to buy GT6 as they did with GT5 (despite similar critic reception). In this case, GTS outsold GT6 on launch, meaning plenty of people thought the game is worth their money regardless of the brand name.
I think GT6 suffered more from being released for only PS3 after the PS4 released. I believe Sony held back GT6 port for PS4 because they had DriveClub slated for the PS4 launch....which was later delayed. I think if GT6 released with PS4, it would have sold much better, and probably would have pushed console sales higher than they already were. But hindsight and all of that. Hard to say how Driveclub would have fared if GT6 released close to it. Even though DC struggled, it turned out to be an excellent game with all the added content over the years.
Halo, Gears, Forza are all brand names on the downward trend in sales too fyi. Whereas GT has weathered through 4 generations.
There is a huge diference between a system seller and just another racer. There is a problem of every year making somekind of racer.
So better to wait 4 years and then release an average, content starved game. OK.
Yeah it may be light on content for now but the actual driving and gameplay is anything but average. I'd rather wait 4 years for quality than have a cookie cutter mt infested re-hash every year.
It was 4 years because its all new. Cars tracks, sound, hdr and so on. Nothing from gt6 was used. And we know that takes time and with pd even more.
@Dragonscale - Motorsport is every 2 years as you well know. @corroios - no amount of defence can escape the fact it reviewed poorly and is not to the standards of PD's previous efforts. Having great driving mechanics is good (personally I find it sterile with little sense of speed) but it's wasted unless you wrap a good game around it at the same time.
Quote ; Can you enlighten with the full physical and digital sales figures for Forza 7? If not then your point is guesswork and trolling. ..... If Forza has digital sales, GTS has it as well. Yep, Forza 7 is butchered by GTS. Forza physical sales in launch week in UK were lower than 30k, GTS is above 80k ( hope that you track PAL charts on GAF). Digital sales are LAME excuse provided by Xbone fans when some their lovely big exclusive sold badly.. But, but, but, but digital sales..... Play Anywhere title is not a guaranteed success. Quantum Break was PA title and game sold like crap. But, but. but digital sales.... Forza 6 isn't PA title, retail sales were lower than Forza 5. Forza 7 retail sales are lower than Forza 6. So, game sold badly and Play Anywhere won't save Forza 7 nor XboneX. Like Waqar said it too : GTS will have digital sales too, so this bu bu but muh digital sales excuse applies for GTS too. GTS has kicked flopza's arse pretty bad. Now wipe those tears my son, and learn to deal with it.
Butchertroll, I wasn't making an excuse. I was asking for proper numbers as you are making grand statements without having actual numbers, which makes such comments ridiculous as you simply don't know. That is all.
But I thought is sucksors....that is what the reviewers said...
the game was too hard for them lmao!!!
Hot damn! The King is back!!!! So happy for PD, best racing sim deserves its success
I guess gamers have voted, GTS wins! :)
GAMERS win. Who honestly cares which one has the most sales? I will play every racing game this season and it doesn't make a difference whether one has more physical sales... Especially considering its the first proper supported racing game on the system since it's launch
i think the over reaction was for the premature jingoism like "GTS doesn't have SP it will flop" "it won't sale more than FM7" "FM7 is the king" "GTS graphix look last gen" "it won't sell because it's got only 160 cars" "always online" blah blah... since you're all about gamer, i hope you objected to the xbox fanboys dancing around.
''Who honestly cares which one has the most sales?'' why are you on a sales article?
3 times over forza 7 in forza's second biggest crowd. also don't bring up the 3:1 consoles because 1) it's a little more than 2:1 and 2) in uk it's much closer than that.
GOD BE PRAISED!!!!!! GT sport will obviously have a lower opening physically than GT5, but retail and digital it would have had a very good first month worldwide, And due to the nature of the game it will trickle along nicely. Once word of mouth comes in regarding the online championships i can imagine it pulling in more numbers. The game is great and a must buy IF YOU are interested in the online component. Also i cant wait for the improved game modes and incoming free updates this game will get well worth the £44.99 for me tbh. i predict the competition will be bundled very shortly in console bundles to bump sales, and humble bundle for the other one. GT is the only driving game people want we dont give a damn about fanboy reviewers edging titles down because its not on their system... The game that Polyphony have made is playing nicely in the PS4 i own thats all that matter's to me and also to millions others...
So true the game plays great, and that's all that matters. GT fans could give two sh*ts about the stupid reviews.
What he said ^^^^^ Perfect post nothing to add.
Project Cars 2 is a better game all round though, but keep on saying "it's the only driving game people want" LOL! I will pick up the game when the car selection is better. When the 2nd oldest car is 2009, you have lost me 😐
Anyone who bought Forza 7 physical would be an idiot because you would miss out on play anywhere, even though i don't game much on my PC i would still buy digital just in case i fancied playing it on the PC
Not everyone cares about play anywhere. There are a lot of people without PC's, or don't game on PC. Most console gamers don't actually play on PC.
Also buy digital because you can get a full refund, like I did.
The king of racers is back!
GT Sport is too good!
Yeah, what did people expect? It's GT you know? I swear, kids these days... Of course it will sell better than Forza and PC.
This is the ultimate bottom line. It's Gran Turismo. It was always going to clean house in regards to sales. It's lower than GT5 (the pinnacle of the series), but still above other GT titles in the series (one of which is one of the highest selling - GT1). And this is just one territory, on its first week (GT is a franchise known for long legs).
Most GT fans consider GT3 to be the pinnacle of the series, despite it having way less cars than GT2, 4, 5, and 6. I bet GT Sport ends up being the new fan favorite after a year or so.
@ yeah: In terms of UK sales, GT5 is the peak.
Loving the game, but it's not without its faults, in all fairness I have judged this game as it is, NOT because of its cars and tracks lack of (not) . The game is awesome but they need to sort out the penalty system during maintenence as I got a 6second penalty in a online race, I didn't hit or bump anyone, perfect race on the track and didn't hit any red apex lines. I came 3rd instead of 1st.
I brought it and don't like it. So sterile and dull imo.
Nice troll m8 There was a demo last week. If you were planning to get it so close to release, you would've downloaded and played the demo to see if you liked it.
