Solid list of games. .
Switch isn't 8th generation.
Sony studios rocking this generation.
Everyone forgets about Sunset overdrive, a suburb exclusive and should be on the list, there isn't much else like it this gen.
Ratchet and Clank remake too. Insomniac made 2 great games with these 2 this gen. I can't wait for Spider Man
Superb? It was ok at best
I think it was better then the last guardian.
And I love quantum break! A game definitely worth playing through a second time.
Quantum break is mediocre garbage
It really isn't. When have you ever played a game like it? The game play and theatrical art style is very unique. Even everyones favorite pubg is just a ripoff of h1z1, now that's mediocre.
Couldn't get on with it personally due to the choppy framerate. But it's an actual exclusive game that deserves attention.
I wanted to love the game, but it ended up feeling very hollow. It felt like a Saints Row game without real character other than art style.
I don’t know why they called Horizon a sleeper hit. A sleeper hit is something that gradually accumulates a fan base. Horizon Zero Dawn sold fast, not gradually. It’s had a lot of promotion to boot.
My personal favorites (PS4, XB1 and Wii U): 1. Bloodborne 2. Ori and The Blind: Definitive Edition 3. Halo 5: Guardians 4.Bayonetta 2 5. Gears of War 4 6.Ratchet and Clank (2016) 7. Super Mario 3D World 8. Uncharted 4: A Thieves End 9. Sunset Overdrive 10. Smash Bros 4 I am really behind on the newer releases. I want to play Horizon Zero Dawn, Quantum Break, Cuphead and Uncharted: Lost Legacy.
I know all of our opinions differ but once you play H:ZD if will defo be in the upper tiers of your top 10 - best game I've played in years mate.
Great taste, man.
Horizon above Bloodborne, Uncharted and Cuphead are you f***ing kidding me
Bloodborne should be higher on the list, above Cuphead at least, but Horizon deserves the top spot or at least tied with BotW.
Bloodborne is the only masterpiece on the list
Horizon wasn't that good.
Horizon was incredibly great
It has a higher metascore than Cuphead, so that's an easy one. The other two are definitely debatable.
Zelda has a higher metascore than Horizon, yet that’s lower on the list. I don’t think meta scores were a big consideration of this list.
Sure. Why not? Great game.
HZD is love HZD is life HZD is easily the best new IP this gen and no amount of hate from you can't change that fact.
You seems angry about it. Well, get used to it. I told you that GG stepped out their comfort zone and proved their talents aren't wasted.
Having played them all, the only one of those that could possibly even tie Horizon is Bloodborne. Uncharted and Cuphead are fun but c'mon. Horizon defined the gen.
For me Until dawn is the sleeper hit this gen . The game still sticks in my mind as it felt fresh and different.
Love that game, and Rush of Blood is great on VR too. Can't wait for the PSVR prequel The Inpatient next month.
Not played any VR games yet. For me I still need the tech to improve in order for me not to vomit. Hopefully in the future this will happen as I am definitely missing out from my inability to play VR games. It should change though as much older (ps1, xbox era) FPS used to do the same to me, where as new ones do not.
that’s my top ps4 exclusive this gen, couldn’t put it down
The thing for me was that it was different to most other games. I have played other amazing games on the list like Zelda, but few have me thinking back to them in the way that Until Dawn does.
I didn't think UD was gonna be my cup of tea and only played it once it came to PS+, I was pleasantly surprised how good it was...and a half naked Hayden Panettiere is always welcome.
I still need to play this!
it's pretty good.
My sleeper is Yakuza 0.
Yakuza 0, persona 5, nier automata, berseria, nioh
Bloodborne Horizon Until Dawn Zelda Sunset Overdrive are some of my favorites.
BotW and Mario Kart were both on the Wii U too tho...
Super Mario Odyssey will be on this list soon
Not an 8th gen game
I consider the Switch to be in this gen because it wasn't a replacement (it really was but the way it was worded it's not officially that) for the Wii U, it was released alongside of it. Yes it is a new Nintendo console but it's a weird situation.
WiiU died and Switch was born as a successor. It's a new generation for Nintendo.
No its a new Nintendo generation system not the same
For me, the best exclusive this gen is Persona 5. :3
Persona is awesome but is on the ps3 too
As Botw on WiiU (again) lol.
forza horizon 3 is a fantastic racer. definitely deserves to be on that list
I'm not into racers, but it's the closest we'll get to a MotorStorm game this generation and that is awesome.
Horizon Zero Dawn over everything this generation for me. Game is perfect from head to toe! I haven't had that much fun in a New IP in a long time. Gave me that Assassin creed 1 feeling.
A lot of great exclusives across the board. I am glad I playd them all.
Horizon? Bloody hell, then lets hurry up and give best multiplatform game to Far Cry Primal. They're both generic open world games that offer nothing new. Take away the pretty graphics and it's nothing special.
Disagree. Horizon was awesome
It's certainly far from the best game this gen.
Debatable, but if there was going to be a debate then Horizon would be in discussion. So “far from the best”. Not as far as you think.
The same logic can be applied on botw
Horizon seems like it should just be a generic Ubisoft-like game considering it borrows a lot from existing open world mechanics but it managed to be fresh and exciting instead. It's tied with bloodborne for best game this gen.
It's also robust game ever. The bugs in this game are nonexistent. Sure, there are bugs but it's very minor.
I recently got a platinum for Horizon, it's great. Love the combat and the lore. But compared to my two favorite open world games (Witcher 3 and Botw) it really lacked engaging quests and/or a world you felt like exploring. The first time I played it I got tons of icons on the map once I climbed the first tallneck, and then I thought: okay now I know where everything is. It seemed like the game didn't want me to explore on my own and instead just gave me a checklist of everything I could do. I'm not saying Witcher 3 or BoTW are perfect either, Zelda imo got problems with the story and dungeons while Witcher 3 got some trouble with its gameplay. But I truly do hope all of these games can learn from eachother and make something truly great.
H:ZD offered nothing new? The combat mechanics alone say to me you haven't actually played it.
Disagree. Take away the graphics and it's still a good story with good gameplay and fun challenges.
Not sure about number nine and ten, but the rest are strong. A little seemingly biased, but strong. (EDIT: Now I know what was off about this list: Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain, Persona 5 and Witcher III are barely disputable as being better than both Before Dawn and Bloodborne.
Those are NOT console Exclusives.
Nioh is on pc now
As Forza and Cuphead.
The article expressly says that they don't disqualify for PC
Definitely should be on that list. Not played much of it but going by reviews and the short amount of time I had with Nioh it was a pretty damn good game. PC gamers are in for a treat.
My top 5 “Console exclusives” Cuphead Crash bandicoot Bloodbourne Horizon zero dawn Forza horizon 3
