The day after 'Star Wars Battlefront 2' beta ended, EA clarified how the contentious loot crate system will work in the final game.
Sure sure EA...spin that shit Just like what devs did for Destiny 2, Forza 7, Shadow of War and so on...
All extra content will be free. So what is better, season passes that split the userbase or loot crates? Like Naughty Dog said before, they should get paid for extra work they do. EA plans to support this game post launch so even though I don't support microtransactions I can see why they would opt for them instead of season passes so they can continue to make new content for online without splitting players with new maps.
Or just do away with both “Season Passes” and “lootboxes” all together. Make a fun game with a fun online component and people will stick around.
Naughty Dog didn't say that you liar. That was the PR who used to work at ND.
No just no, if they want to implement free to play business model they should make the game free to play. This is the reason why dlc, microtransactions, loot boxes have become so rampant these days. They give you a choice of bad and worst business practices and some gamers choose the bad with the mentality like it could be worse NO, both options are bad and should not be supported.
Here the things, Uncharted 4 MP treasure chest have no variations like common to Epic and no duplicate. It's a lot of less shady than The Last Of Us MP. What EA did today is that they favor gambling system more than the traditional game progress. Remember Mass Effect 3 Co op MP, if you want to upgrade your weapon, you have to buy a pack by play the game to increase your in game currency which was slow and tedious or have to buy pack with real money. I was completely tired and angry about it, so I quit play Mass Effect 3 MP because of it. So on, I completely hate microtransaction in AAA games. Edit : My solution is that give people free updates with no microtransaction, no paid DLC and no loot box. The only thing consumers have to buy 60$ game and expansion pack like Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn and BloodBorne.
I'll take a season pass over pay to win gambling.
@UCForce "Edit : My solution is that give people free updates with no microtransaction, no paid DLC and no loot box. The only thing consumers have to buy 60$ game and expansion pack like Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn and BloodBorne." That would be nice and I agree but not all developers are going to work for free.
You should've been born with a helmet apparently.
I agree that they should get paid for the extra work they do but that doesn't excuse the fact they've designed the entire progression system around rng loot boxes. That's just bullshit game design plain and simple especially when you consider it's a full priced AAA title, not even the f2p games I've played are that bad. They could have done this in a whole bunch of different ways, kept all the loot crate stuff as cosmetic and slowly add new stuff as the game progresses kind of like how they work in SWTOR but nope, EA's greed strikes again.
@WePlayDirty "Or just do away with both “Season Passes” and “lootboxes” all together. Make a fun game with a fun online component and people will stick around." It's shocking how so many people have forgotten a time when gaming was exactly like this. A lot of gamers have been brainwashed or are too young to know any better.
@liquid Except this isn’t pay to win. It’s almosy entirely cosmetic and all of the most powerful stuff can only be obtained through in game mechanics not loot crates. If people want to gamble money to get a unique victory pose, unique character skin or some other useless cosmetic. Then that’s on them. Not of that impacts your ability to participate and help your team win a match.
The Kurg: It's not just cosmetic items in loot boxes. There's Star cards and also the currency (can't remember what it's called) that you need to upgrade weapons and cards too. Players with fully upgraded weapons and Star cards will have a very noticeable advantage over those that don't.
I agree 100 percent I would rather have optional loot crates than map packs that splitting the online community.
Funny that you bring up Sony games in most of your comments 🤔🤔
@weplaydirty I would also pay to expand that experience
@SegaGamer "It's shocking how so many people have forgotten a time when gaming was exactly like this. A lot of gamers have been brainwashed or are too young to know any better." I also remember when the first game came out for $50 wi
" Make a fun game with a fun online component and people will stick around." Who pays for the servers while you are "sticking around"? What about the updates? What's next, the government should pay your mortgage and college bills? News Flash, games cost money to make and more money today than they did a year ago.
Bloop Did you even read the statement. Star card upgrades can only be gotten through level advancement which is not found in loot boxes. Star cards are also awarded through the challenges that pop up. You people are just complaining about something that is 100% a non-issue. It’s a SMALL potential boost to get BASE QUALITY star cards that everyone will get through the challenge system. Afterwards it’s cosmetic only because all advantaged upgrades are only achieved through playing the game not buying loot crates.
@morganfell heard of a grant? Financial aid? You know where some of those things come from? Heard of public housing? Heard of WiC? If im completely honest the government should pay all of our college also. The focus on education in colleges is lowering everyday. College is there for the NCAA primarily, education second maybe third. These NCAA athletes (80% dont go to the next level) are paid nothing. What about their free rides you ask? Sure thats fair, they generate billions risk lifetime injuries and in return they get 50k? Good deal. Id bet youre okay with the subsidies we have to pay for nfl stadiums too? 750 mil stadium, owners a billionare but threatens the governor if they dont have the citizens front the cost, saying itll bring jobs and tourists etc. Yet studies show the payout is nowehere near the cost. Guess whats even better? When teams like SD move to LA and SD still has 200mil left. Think the owner cares about that? Now back on topic, Its not about expecting other people to foot the bill, its about expecting people not to take advantage of you. Sadly more and more people are accepting that as its become the "norm". Not their fault, they havent known or maybe dont remember what it was like to not be treated like wallets.
A game should be complete at launch...not a work in progress.
I nevber got to finish my message, my phone died, lol. @SegaGamer "It's shocking how so many people have forgotten a time when gaming was exactly like this. A lot of gamers have been brainwashed or are too young to know any better." I also remember when the first SW Battlefront came out for $50 and it was likely 1/10th the cost to make as this one. You have literally hundreds of people now that can be on one project. Another EA game Anthem has multiple teams working on it. So of course they will look at ways to get more revenue to make a profit. This is a business, not a charity.
Why does there need to a shitty compromise? For all crap COD gets it still sells millions of copies and season passes because fans of the game just want to keep playing it. Fragmenting the user base seems like an excuse to add lootboxes at this point. If you couldn't buy power directly from the boxes and more skin based and cosmetic things then there people might be less angry. I can't imagine within a few days of the game launching with some players having all 4 star loadouts through buying loot whilst many are still grinding will be any fun when they get wrecked a few seconds into matches. Give us a good gaming experience without this loot bs and people will comeback for more and buy expansions if they have a good time with a game.
@rocketpanda "Why does there need to a shitty compromise? For all crap COD gets it still sells millions of copies and season passes because fans of the game just want to keep playing it. " But that is also a compromise. "Fragmenting the user base seems like an excuse to add lootboxes at this point. If you couldn't buy power directly from the boxes and more skin based and cosmetic things then there people might be less angry. " This game doesn't fragment the community, Call of Duty does. "I can't imagine within a few days of the game launching with some players having all 4 star loadouts through buying loot whilst many are still grinding will be any fun when they get wrecked a few seconds into matches." We won't know until it's released just how they are implemented. I agree, lootboxes/crates should not be used as leverage to force people to grind. "Give us a good gaming experience without this loot bs and people will comeback for more and buy expansions if they have a good time with a game." Sounds good on paper until you run your own business.
Thekhurg, watch this video and tell me again that this isn't a bullshit progression system and everyone is complaining about nothing: https://youtu.be/ne4CnyNW9O...
@bloop That Angry Joe video shows how this can potentially be a bad example of how to implement loot crates. If this is how the final game is I might just end up cancelling my pre-order. Forcing gamers to grind is not acceptable unles they are free to play titles. Thanks for the video.
I think moldybread is a very good name for you.
@ Moldy We get it you love MS and it's practices and we also get that you have no problem with MT. The rest of us despise how greedy these corporations are being and how they are ruining gaming with all this BS. Funny how games in the past did fine without all this BS imagine that.
EA Electronic A-holes
sounds like something from I-Robot....
LOL, you have one disagree (as I write this). There must be an EA employee around here.
Lol. I've often referred to them as Electronic fArts.
just going to leave this here https://www.youtube.com/wat...
Not buying EA's Star Wars Loot Crate 2. #fail
Love me some Sterlin!........Son.
Yeah if I wanted a spin I'd just go to the casino. It's sad someone pays full price for a game day one...which in Canada is 90 dollars but still doesn't have access to certain weapons and/or maps. The beginning of the end. Thank God Polyphony and Sony are realizing the issue. Phil and T10 / EA / Activision take notes. Unfortunately we know certain publishers won't care...it's sad I've been playing Activision's games since Atari 2600 and I'm beginning to hate the company that ushered in gaming for me.
Destiny 2 microtransactions are purely cosmetic... It's a similar system to Overwatch.
More like quickly changed the system because they were losing pre orders and had everyone that isn't a corporate fanboy zombie yell at them that this was pay to win BS.
We can always count on EA to bring us all together... in mutual disgust!
Nah they didn't change the system, the achievements will be something like "Open 1000 loot boxes" and "Get 3 ultimates from one loot box"
EA your spinning isn't help, just keep digging as I'm laughing definitely no purchase, everybody should do the same.
The way im looking at it, if I buy the the game day one, it will cost say 50 quid, im not gonna buy any loot crates, and I get all dlc free. sounds good to me, I really enjoyed the space battles once I turned off all the assists, I think its called advanced flight mode, ill be getting the game mainly for that game type. Plus we get a campain that we all complained about. only thing im worried about the drop rate of cards which we dont know yet, if the drop rate is awful then ill be back on here complaining.
No point coming back here to complain if you've already bought the game.
It was already known this game would come with a campaign. Try and follow, people complained about the first game, EA listened and made improvements to the second game and also added a campaign mode.
Too true, but it might help others who have not invested in the game yet.
I mostly agree with your comment except for its about no use complaining here Best on EA forums or on reply to their twitter and so on where you know they might actually read it Also I find Deluxe edition is just as bad and it gives epic upgrade but people dont complain about it for some reason I dont know anyone paying to get advantage in the game but Id feel sorry for them since they basically pay so they dont have to play
Good idea, ill do that. is that the yoda lightsaber card, how many times will go get to go yoda in a match. Plus you will have to be on republic team to go him. Doesnt sound too Op, you might get to use that card once in every 3 to 4 matches. Plus im not defending the way Ea are going with loot boxes, I just focus on the positives,
@shaun: If you don't spend any of your points on any other characters you should easily get a hero/villain at least once, maybe twice per round. If you have fully upgraded heros/villains I'd imagine you could respawn every time as one as you'll easily rack up enough points again per spawn.
Thanks for nothing. By the way. Ship battles, I believe, will demonstrate the unbalance the most. Good luck
Yeah based on what was in beta the shield regen cards and the one that just straight up increases damage is garbage. The trooper classes don't have any blaster damage increase cards outside of the stinger pistol that has a crappy tick damage duration buffs, plus ships have ridiculous health pools, shield regen, free AI targets and low cost hero units with triple HP. Ground units have none of that
No that's just for pre order I think. Deluxe has an epic ability upgrade for each class
Maaan, F Ea sooooo hard
There's too many games to play. The last thing Il do is put my money towards one that's riddled with disgusting microtransactions.
Hehe. So cute EA. Thankfully, not everyone out there has s**t for brains, and will continue to call out and publicize your bulls**t.
Damage Control. I don't think anyone is buying that crap excuse though. Even if it's locked behind certain level requirements, you are still putting people with less hours or casuals at a huge disadvantage since this is a multiplayer game. Everyone should be on even grounds, but instead you have lootboxes to give people an advantage over other players.
This has to STOP. Enough is enough and this is just over the line. Yes it has been there longer but they really are pushing it to the limit now. And do not even dare to defend this kind of behaviour or come with excuses like " but its optional or you wont have an advantage cause 1 its obviously not optional if u need it to progress, you have advantages over others , its for fk sake a full priced game! , so drop the fanboyism and just do not support this cause in the end , we all be affected
A lot can happen between empty promisses and expected deception.
Not buying it.
So their answer for the problems of the first game is to destiny battlefront.......good lord.
All full price aaa's with loot boxes deserve to fail.
MT's are good for the industry. Helps eliminate DLC. Bring on P2W!
It doesn't eliminate DLC in the slightest. Destiny 2 and Shadow of War have already announced plans for DLC and season passes. Assassins Creed Origins is rumoured to have a lootbox merchant and you bet they'll it will have DLC.
People crying about loot boxes but still buy the games, you can't make this stuff up
Im sure a few are crying about loot boxes but buying the deluxe edition which is worse. I wish they didnt include loot boxes in the game but I buy standard edition and no way I buy into MT. Grown up gamers should have a balanced attitude. Didnt you see all the guys proudly saying they ll get the deluxe edition? It s way worse than the MT in he game.
Game prices have stayed flat while development costs have skyrocketed. They are going to make extra money somehow, just pick your poison. I'd rather see optional in game purchases rather than have the base game price go up $25 or $30, but thats me
So you'd rather the poison be something that changes the entire formula of a game from the ground up, and morphs into its skeleton? Because, paying more for the game in a full package isn't enticing enough? What on earth..
Well they tried that overpriced season pass model last time around which split the content, and which everyone hated. This seems like an improvement vs that.
