Bad Flashback Gaming as an entertainment medium has only gained relevance in recent years. It’s hard for many to grasp this, but video games are a relatively new medium. The first video game, Pong, made its debut in 1972, only 45 years ago. For reference, movies got their start in the 1890s and television was first tinkered with in 1927. Gaming is a young medium that spent its first years labeled as a kids’ toy. Nowadays it’s considered a serious medium. With its growth as a legitimate form of entertainment, interest in its past has grown.
GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.
The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."
Shame about Creative Assembly, they should have just been allowed to do an Alien Isolation sequel.
Gearbox Entertainment has been purchased by Take-Two from Embracer Group.
Good as it should have been better then Embracer pawning them off to the next company like say Tencent.
It’s good to see at least some of Embracer’s studios escaping its embrace of death. A company the size of Embracer was doomed to fail due to low revenue.
Genuine Enabling Technology was seeking damages, claiming the tech allowing PlayStation consoles and controllers to communicate infringes its rights.
Sounds like patent trolling they tried the same thing against Nintendo with the same pattern.
Motion and control input traversing over higher and lower frequencies seperate from each other allowing the controller to do both
So to recoup the money Genuine is going to take on Nintendo or Microsoft next. I hate patent lawyers they are some of the worst bottom feeders out there.
