Ken from Mammoth Gamers bought a Nintendo Switch. He played through Zelda a couple of times...now what does he do? A Nintendo lovers plea for more things to do on the Switch.
Now you reap what you bought
If you need to ask a question like that, then why did you buy it in the first place? You don't have to buy something because its popular. It's okay to wait or not buy that product at all. If you are buying the console only for traditional Nintendo games, then you either wait until enough of them are on the console to buy it or you play the one Nintendo game that is out and then wait for more to come out. I love my Switch, but I never tell people to buy one. I always say, its nice but it needs more games. With that said, I think there are plenty of games on it now, but I know for the traditional consumer they will want more diverse games and thats fine. Next year or holiday this year, there will be plenty of compelling non-traditional Nintendo games on the Switch so I would be more incline to recommend it to anyone. For me, what I love about my Switch is playing traditional games in handheld mode. I didn't think that feature would be so compelling to me. I am not really the biggest fan of mobile games, but I love that feature on the Switch. When Hurricane Irma put my power out I was able to game on my Switch and I loved it. Mind you, I couldnt game for very long on it because I had no power, but being able to play Splatoon 2 for a few hours really helped me take my mind off things.
now you play it
Why enjoy the many available games and look forward to the new releases when you can whine on the internet about it.
I don't own a Switch or intend to, but I came in to post the same thing.
That's what I say. About whine on the internet. Monthly nintendo releases, 3rd party, indies and frequent 3rd party announcements are barely even qualified as games. I bought a tiny snowboard!
Imagine having to play all of that on a train, that would SUCK.
"many" ?? what other good exclusives does it have other than Mario Kart and Zelda ??
@AlNOON Currently it has Splatoon 2, Arms, and the recent Mario+Rabbid (which has 85 score on metacritic) and Pokken Tournament. Next month it will have Fire Emblem Warriors and Mario O. I say that is plenty of games beside Mario Kart and BOTW.
Download the OCTOPATH TRAVELER demo
Is there a demo? Not looked as i didn't realise there was one.
It's awesome, I can't wait for the full release. I've put 3 hours into the demo already. The music and the 2D HD, as they call it, is pretty cool looking.
March: Binding of Isaac, Zelda April: Mario Kart June: Arms July: Splatoon 2 August: Mario + rabbids, Sonic Mania September: Fifa, Mario Oddy, Pokken, October: Fire Emblem November: Skyrim, LA Noir Only listed the games I give a shit about. If you cant find something here, no taste
Dont forget about odyssey. Previews are comparing it to mario 64
Skyrim - played it to death. 😀 Binding of Isaac (old game), Mario Kart, Arms, Splatoon, Mario + rabbids, Sonic Mania, Fifa, Mario Oddy, Pokken, Fire Emblem (old game), LA Noir (old game) - not interested Zelda Breath of the Wild - Like to play it but not going to buy the Switch for one game when I have a massive backlog of AAA, third party and Indi games.
I believe mario oddysy comes out in october not september
That list is kinda said both Xbox and PS have 15-20 games come out each month
@Kyizen hes only listing games he cares about.
Kingdom Battle is truly excellent, Splatton 2 is a blast, MK8 is the funnest game In the world. And super Mario Odyssey drops next month. Xenoblade chronicles 2 in December and loads of other brilliant games. How about the stop being a pessimist whiney baby and play some games.
Loads of games is a bit too much lol
It's not at all. There's tons of stuff already on the Switch and an amazing line up of games.
For xbox yea switch no
and what if none of those are his preferrences?
Then he should have done some more research before he bought it.
Then he should have looked at the game library before purchasing?
Then he's absurdly picky. There's platformers, racing games, action-adventure titles galore, RPGs titles coming by end of year plus Disgaea 5, roguelikes, fighting games, beat 'em ups, a few shooting games with more on the way, turn based strategy, puzzle, even games like Harvest Moon (and Story of Seasons), Farming Simulator, various sports games, etc, all on the way. If you can't find at least a few games to be interested in, that sounds like his problem, because it's certainly not that of the platform's. If he didn't do basic research in what a platform offers, then that's no one's problem but his, and the list of games keeps looking better all the time.
Exactly what pookndpie said. There's a wide variety of games so if none of them are his taste, he has bad taste.
Well he is a self proclaimed "Nintendo Lover" So you would imagine those games fall under his preference somewhere.
Then y did he buy it cuz someone said its cool
I know it might not be to everone taste, but i would love a cod or battlefield on it so i could play it on the go!!!
Now? Fast RMX, Mario Kart 8, Mario + Rabbids, Disgaea 5, Splatoon 2, if soccer is your thing then FIFA launches next week. Fire Emblem Warriors and Mario Odyssey are in a few weeks, followed by Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Doom is sometime this year. Dragonball just launched, and more games on the way.
"A Nintendo lovers plea for more things to do on the Switch." That statement is kinda ironic seeing how the switch is a Nintendo lovers dream console. If one is a Nintendo fan then the switch is a platform that they'll love since a lot of the titles that have graced the system so far are what the fans love the most. To top it off they have a lot of titles in the future that are meant to please the dedicated fanbase.
Most are titles already experienced. Tbh Once you experience Zelda, you either paper weight it or convince yourself that it's worth it to repurchase games you own on other consoles, seriously. Mario, Kart, Smash, wash and repeat. Xenoblade, of course, but that's all in the near future to play. I understand where he is coming from.
I understand that too but why would you buy a Switch without proper research? "Alright I took a look at the list of announced and released titles for the Switch and I'm only interested in Zelda BoTW and possibly Super Mario Odyssey. Gimme more games!!!!1" - Writer of this article.
I'm playing Steamworld Dig 2 right now in handheld mode and it's great.
"Nintendo lovers dream console"??? Lol. Maybe a mellineal hipster nintendo lovers dream console lol
Mario + Rabbids is a great single player game. There are some other games like Disgaea that you could always try out. There are also many games on the eShop you could try while you wait for a single player experience like Mario Odyssey. The system is still new. It may take a while to develop an extensive library that you see on other consoles, but there are still things to play. My recommendation is to just experiment with some games you may not have looked at before.
Really ? People are still making these articles lol so far there's too much for me to play on the switch. Just got Dragonball Xenoverse and steam world dig just this week plus got Pokemon arriving Monday. Still haven't finished m&r kingdom battle and Splatoon still has me addicted. Thimbleweed park also just released this week so I'm picking that up once I bring my log down a little on the switch. Doesn't get more clickbaitier then this
Thimbleweed Park is excellent. Played through it on Xbox and had a blast. Really enjoying Steamworld Dig 2 as well. So far, I've had more than enough to play on my Switch. My Xbox on the other hand... If my may hadn't bought Destiny (we console share) it'd be sitting gathering dust until Cuphead next week as there's not been much else worth playing.
You done with Zelda ? Just sell it back bro while it's still scarce, you might get a good buck out of it. You can also wait until Mario odysey comes out cuz it would be a shame to miss that one, the waiting for it is killing me, so much that I watched a whole run of super Mario 64 the other day, 5 freaking hours and 120 stars, the soundtrack of that game is fabulous
You return it
Good question, ALBERTPERK, because you can't do more with your Nintendo Switch than you can with a brick.
Lies, you cant return a brick to Gamestop.
Come on, really? You can't return a brick.
What now?... Disgaea 5 Say goodbye to a few hundred hours...
I am hoping I can resist the lure of Mario because I would prefer to wait for a bigger library before picking up the Switch.....its going to be tough to resist when Mario hits though, especially when I am already gagging to play Zelda BotW.
You my be in luck, if Mario is as good as previews are making it out to be the Switch might become harder to find again come this holiday.
"I Bought a Nintendo Switch, Now What?" Run to forums and brag about how much you love your switch, while watching the little dust flakes slowly accumulate on your switch.... Lol! It's a nice device, but it definitely has its limitations
Now you wait until fall to play xenoblade 2, and m.o... All the other games can be played elseware
It really is a hassle to be honest. I keep finding myself scrolling through the same ol games ever week in the store to find nothing, again. Mario Kart is cool with friends but no fun at all in SP.
What did you do with you're ps4 or xb1 for the 1st 2 years of they're life span, take up needling ?
Now you enjoy
Now you play it? 💁
Enjoy it :)
Now play all the great games coming in the next 3 months.
In the same boat. I bought it, played Zelda and it’s been off ever since. I don’t dislike it. It’s cool for what it is but I always end up on the PS4 or Xbox. There are just simply more games that I’m into on them and they are bigger and better performing. I don’t mean this in a negative way but I really feel it’s not a real console. It’s a mobile/handheld first and mostly. The only thing that makes it a “console” is that you can play it on a tv. Full consoles however have things like proper online services, hard drives, data management, optical drives, apps, better I/o support etc. the switch has more in common with the Vita and DS - just with controller peripherals. The big retort is always “but gameplay always trumps graphics” to which I say sure. A game can be beautiful and not very fun to play. The thing is, I’ve played plenty of games that have amazing gameplay AND fantastic graphics. It’s a full experience for all senses. Games like Horizon: zero Dawn, Uncharted, Forza Horizon 3, grand theft auto V etc are all fantastic at gameplay with great, immersive visuals that pull you into the worlds. Maybe it’s just me, but I’ll sacrifice portability for more amazing games any day.
I find it hard for people to disagree with this other than fanboyism.
You know nothing John snow!! Mario, Zelda, metroid and Pokemon for life! Then wait and repeat! Repeat! Repeat!... Now turn that switch to on dammit! Lol j/k
I think it's definitely a console for people who enjoy playing portables, which aren't everyone's cup of tea. My Switch dock isn't even connected to my monitor right now; I just use it for a charge station.
Place Mario on the calendar and wait
Tbh I kind of feel the same, have not switched on Switch since I finished zelda. I just think I have grown out of Nintendo exclusives and I would rather play 3rd party on PS4, PC or xbox
There's a bunch of games worth playing on it now. Mario Odyssey next month, Splatoon 2, Mario + Rabbids, project octopath next year, Mario kart 8 deluxe, pokken tournament dx and still more to come. It's not just about exclusives but also about which games are better on the go.
Wait for Homebrew
If you're done with the games already out, then wait a few months for new ones. A bunch of awesome games are coming out soon of all genres. Surely some will be of interest to you.
Now you regret.
The reason I haven't bought a Nintendo console since the snes. It's not that they are bad consoles, but they have had the relatively same lineup for years. Fine for a diehard Nintendo fan, but not enough for a gamer.
This year alone has Snipperclips (new IP), Mario + Rabbids (crossover of two IPs in a completely new genre for both), Splatoon 2 (the second game in the series), Arms (new IP), Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (the 3rd game in the series), and Fire Emblem Warriors (only the second Nintendo/Warriors crossover). That's a fry cry from having "the relatively same lineup" they've supposedly had for years.
Now you cry a river that you don't have 300 dollars or more in your pocket.
This is why you wait before purchases. Buying a console early is always playing the risk of no games. The switch has a handful of titles some hit and miss. But there's a good selection. The article is basically a waste of time. Tries to attack no solid titles on a brand new system.
