This week's Japanese sales include the debuts of Metroid: Samus Returns, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and more.
Hopefully metroid sells well world wide.. I really want a sequel in this style.. I dont understand why japan isnt too into it.. The series is fantastic and this newest entry was a great addition and re imagining of 2..
Metroid definitely isn't that popular in Japan.
Or worldwide, just like Xenoblade.
The sequel is Super Metroid. You can play it right now. Seriously though, I know what you're saying.
Splatoon 2 gonna catch up to DQ 11 PS4 real soon.
that's a no brainer. It continues to outsell much newer games over there. Clearly the most popular Switch title, until Odyssey drops next month.
You think Odyssey will sell better than Splatoon 2? HAHAHAHA
@Lime123 While Splatoon and Splatoon 2's sales were / are fantastic, 3D Mario games also have a reputation for being among the best selling games on their respective systems. So, yeah, Odyssey could very well sell better than Splatoon 2. I don't if it will surpass it for sure, but it will definitely be one of the best selling Switch titles overall.
@Lime123 - do you even read? I never once said that Odyssey will outsell Splatoon 2. Jesus you are a child. I said that Splatoon 2 is the most popular Switch title in Japan currently, until Mario releases. Clearly when that game releases it will sell in droves. But I never said that overall it would sell more, just that the popularity and interest level will be higher.
Last quarter: PS4 - 3.3 million shipped Switch - 1.97 million shipped PS4 is best selling console YTD in US and UK. ?
@Lime123 - 1 console is readily available and can be found at any electronics store. One can't. Good comparison. Keep skewing the facts.
Metroid deserves to do well, just wish it would of been released on switch instead.
Or additionally. I wouldn't mind the Switch getting ports of some 3DS games in 1080p with HD textures for $40. Ocarina of Time + Majora's Mask HD for $60. Fire Emblem Fates HD (with all three versions) for $60. Metroid Samus Returns for $40. A Link Between Worlds for $40. Mario Party Top 100 for $40. Would be worth the price of admission IMO. I can't imagine it'd cost too much to port them and all they'd really NEED is a texture, frame rate, and resolution bump. EDIT: If Metroid Samus Returns and Mario Party Top 100 launched concurrently on Switch and 3DS I imagine it'd be $40 for the 3DS versions and $50 for the Switch versions. It'd still be worth the price assuming the games launched concurrently. Old games getting ported in HD, like A Link Between Worlds, would have to be $40 or less (or be part of a compilation) to be worth it.
Nah - old games would have to be much cheaper. I'm willing to bet 80-90% of early switch adopters have/had a 3DS. I really want Mario Party Top 100 for Switch - how many people will sit down and get 4 3DS' together to play mario party?
@Concertoine, I mean, if it was a simple resolution bump they'd have to be like $20 eShop games. But personally I wouldn't want a simple resolution bump without the textures also getting a boost. On top of that having things in silky smooth 60fps would be nice. In that case $40 for a title like A Link Between Worlds would be a fair price.
I think a Fire emblem 3DS collection would be pretty cool. Awakening, Fates and echoes with slightly sharper visuals and redesigned for the Switch screen would be great!
Yeah, I'd really dig a Fire Emblem HD collection. But I think getting Awakening, Echoes, and all three Fates games in one package would be a bit of a stretch unfortunately. Maybe Awakening HD for $30-40 and then all three Fates games in HD for $60?
Good job Nintendo. I don't have enough time to play all the great games coming out for the rest of the year.
Exactly. There is Super Mario, Xenoblade, and that's about it. While PS4 has Gran Turismo and biggest multiplats like Call of Duty and Battlefront which aren't on Switch.
Your incessant PlayStation fanboyism is so cringe worthy. Can you just go away?
https://www.forbes.com/site... Read up, and you just mention one exclusive with Sony. And, with the 3rd party games, I could get them on PC. So, thanks for proving that the Switch does have better exclusives.
Wow such denial,
Other than Gran Turismo, I don't care about any of the other games you mentioned. Besides, I also have a PS4 (for exclusives only), and a PC. Nice try though...
and still the Switch demolishes the PS4.. amazing huh?
I love Metroid, but it is not that popular in Japan, but selling about 100,000 copies will not be too bad in Japan. This is good news for Metroid and way to go Zelda for holding up.
It will not even do that.-30,855 it flopped (in japan).
30,000 in a few days. Let's see how it holds up. But, Japan has never been big on Metroid, so if you turned out to be right, I would not be surprised.
One week later and as I said, It will not do that, it flopped! 37.061 (-80%)
Switch sales will only continue to get better from here. It could reach 3 million unit sold by the end of the year.
leading the pack with no new games currently.
Switch on top again. With Mario Odyssey on the horizon its only going to strengthen Nintendo's hold on Japan. Splatoon is a big seller but Mario is even bigger.
Mario is not bigger in Japan.
