3DS vs PSP – VGChartz Gap Charts – July 2017

In the latest month the gap grew by 79,603 units in favor of the PSP and by 2.81 million units in favor of the PSP in the last 12 months. The PSP currently leads by 3.28 million units.

An important note is that the two handhelds launched at different times of the year. The PSP first launched in December 2004, while the 3DS launched in February 2011. The 3DS has sold 65.60 million units, while the PSP sold 68.88 million units.

PSP still selling after all these years? Now that's impressive. Although I remember reading somewhere that its overall sales were 85 million+

Sony continues to get decent-good sales from smaller markets for PS3, PSP and yes, even PS2!

No, that's not what this is saying. This chart is comparing the sales of the two handhelds for their first 6 years or so on the market.

So, in other words, it's as if the PSP launched the same year as the 3DS.
