FDG Entertainment “We can also confirm #Switch being a great home 4 Indies. #Oceanhorn sold more copies on #NintendoSwitch than all other consoles combined.
Lol. The switch doesn't have a lot of games to choose from so chances are whatever is released on the console will sell well
a shit game is still a shit game, a good game is a good game. technically a game that releases on a console with 60 million users should not be outsold by a console that has 5. But way to spin anything to get your point across.
That's a terrible argument, you could say the same about the wiiu when it launched with so many 3rd party games like ac3 ect.there user base didn't have plenty to play but what happened?
nice spinning you're doing here lol
Actually the Switch has many games. Oceanhorn is no where near the top of Switch's must have list, as there are many other games that are better than it. Plus, Oceanhorn is available on so many platforms already even before the Switch is released. Try harder next time.
Oceanhorn has dozens of AAA exclusives to compete with on PS4. PS4 owners probably didn't even notice it's release. I certainly didn't. Never heard of the game until yesterday.
@move Isn't this like the same thing that was being said for PSVita with its software attach rate vs the 80million consoles?
@Neo- Why do you keep saying 60 million users as if all of the 60 million just buy anything? Didn't the wii have 100 million yet Call Of Duty wasn't selling 25 million on Wii, even with Wii having more units then PS3 and 360? PS4's install base and clearly XONE's is also so diverse and packed with games that stuff like this get pushed aside for bigger AAA titles, this and LA Noire or even old games like Skyrim might be BIG NEWS to you, but to PS4, PC and XONE owners, its not even on their radar, not with Destiny 2, Call Of Duty WWII, Battlefront 2, Shadow Of War, Far Cry 5, Assassins Creed Origin's etc coming out. This game can move units on Switch, Switch has very little games to even have the title compete with, have you not seen all that isn't coming to Switch? I'd argue 95% of E3 2017 was AAA titles NOT coming to Switch. You being hype about 6 year old games is enough to show that such a install base is hungry for just about anything, where PS4, PC and XONE owners could care less with the massive amount of games coming to them. You really think I'm putting down Titanfall 2, Horizon, Yakuza 1 remake and Persona 5 to play this indie game? Its easy to care about this, when you have very little in the first place. Other platforms just have too much games to really care about this title. . @IGiveHugs2NakedWomen- EXACTLY! I've never even heard of this title lol. I'm too busy playing Hellblade and Yakuza 1 remake to care about this, I don't know why I would. Too many games to play and focus on to play cell phone games on my PS4. I didn't buy my PS4 to play facebook and mobile games. Sounds, desperate.
That thirst is real...
LOL, no. That's bullshit and you know it. There's over 300 on it already, that number is growing daily, and the percentage of shovelware is so low that you'd have to struggle to find more than 10 that aren't worth looking into for most people. On just my list of games that I want alone, there's no less than 77 games that I think most Switch owners will either already have and love, or are going to be glad to own once they release. If you really think most Switch owners are starved for games, then you're deluded. Kinda what I was thinking actually and that's not at all a slight towards the Switch as it's a nice piece of kit. Some games tend to get drowned out by the constant game releases not talking about the AAA games but the smaller games that noone really hears about.
If it was about how many games then don't you think a game like Disgaea5 complete would sell even more!
@wonderfulmonkeyman All those are games that haven't been released yet, and many of them are ports of "old" games. Also, if those games were out, do you think that Oceanhorn would have sold as well as it did? JaguarEvolved wasn't saying that the switch doesn't have games coming out, he was saying there aren't games out NOW and if there were Ocenhorn wouldn't have sold as well. People don't like the truth. When it released on PC, it had to contend with The Binding of Issac, CoD: Advanced Warfare, Assassin's Creed Unity, a WoW expansion, Dragon Age Inquisition, and Far Cry 4 When Oceanhorn released on PS4 there were 35 other games released in the same month. When Oceanhorn released on the switch, 5 other games released that month: Cars 3, Cave Story +, Gonner, Mighty Gunvolt Burst, and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. The only other game worth anything was Cave Story, and that released in 2004. Another 17 games released on Switch in July, and another 20 released last month. 43 games over 3 months and many of those games are years old or shovelware. So, yeah. It sold better on the Switch. I love how people are going to disagree with facts too.
I don't know about the Switch but I have been meaning to get this on Vita... doing so now...
That's not necessarily true, I'll say half am half in between right and wrong
They currently lack quantity, but quality wise they are excelling this year.
I guess most people on other consoles bought that new AAA game. You know the one? The one that wouldn't be at all possible on the switch.
So... this is a problem for AAA Indie developers because???? If anything this just shows their is a prime market on the Switch looking to buy games, not just Nintendo 1st party games, but good games. That is great news. The fact that these guys found success for a game that is basically a Zelda inspired clone (with its own flair of course) on the console that people can just buy Zelda on is amazing. It's a great sign and I hope it continues for more games. Where a developer finds success matters less than the fact that they did in fact find success. Also, you are arguing semantics. There are enough games on the Switch for this one to be ignored, but it wasnt and thats the real news.
Haha no shit... Gamers bought destiny 2 while switch owners bought erm not destiny 2 😂. Spot on
I finished it in about 11 hours. Decent game but not great, really easy as well, puzzles and combat. Still worth a go if u want a cheap, decent Zelda-like. Soundtrack is good. Reminds me of Phantom hour glass and Spirit tracks except they're both pretty brilliant. 6.5/10 The Switch is the logical place to play indies like this.
Actually, the game reminds me of Zelda Windwaker with a revamped Final Fantasy 10 soundtrack. As for finishing the game in 11 hours did you do it with a guide and did you get 100% in all quests?
Pretty much did everything got the Coral sabre and did every Island yes. It felt way too easy like I was just breaking through it without thinking or trying.
Fewer games on switch, means it stands out more. It also helps that it's a Zelda clone.
Wonderboy did the same thing. It's sold more on the switch than Xbox one & PS4 combined.
Also the fact gamers not on switch are playing a game not on switch (destiny 2).
It's a lesser known indie game. Of course it's not going to be less popular on real consoles. I'm not saying it's bad, but lets not pretend it was a hit.
Real consoles ? What is that
Something more powerful than a ps3 that can handle very complex games while also employing antialiasing and a steady framerate
@CaptainObvious878, So anything before the PS4/Xbox One/Wii U gen isn't a real console? Also handhelds have never been real consoles. Interesting. Not to mention a Switch is more powerful than a PS3 so I guess it fits the bill of a real console under your definition.
You sure? http://n4g.com/news/1945615... http://n4g.com/news/2059567... http://n4g.com/news/1963410...
Cool game. Got my physical copy from limited run. I like physical better.
Same here! Since it was only available from limited run, there were only a couple thousand in a physical format. If it were a widespread physical console release, im sure it would have done better.
Was a pretty good game. Wait for part 2.
I keep forgetting that this game is available on the Switch. Maybe because I had play this game to death on my iPhone
Never heard of this game before. But I guess this is a sign of the switch's overwhelming dominance over all of gaming... Ugh.
newsflash: this is not really an achievement. if someone took the time to compare the installbase, maybe he/she would have chosen another topic to write about. bloggers these days... oh and while i used the word chosen: when is xcom2: war of the chosen coming to the switch? i heard it got this stellar third party support this time around that totally does not consist of merely indy games. yes, i know, skyrim.
You just mad Mario Kingdom Battle beat Knack 2 teehee
Wow really? Knack is supposed to be a AAA flagship 1st party title. And on a 60 million user base got beat out by Mario/Rabbids with a 5 mil user base? Honestly I'm not surprised Knack bored me to death and I don't regret not finishing it. I only spent about 2 hours on it but it was one of the dumbest games
Games that people never heard about sell more in a store that doesnt have games. In other news water is wet
Yeah like the ps4 has over 60 million users but 95%of the games don't sell more than 1 million and another thing on PC there are thousands of games but some how a number of indie games makes it the top of the charts. But i guess you are a little correct because only a fool would waste money on no man sky and the order i guess a certain platform was desperate for some thing to play at that time
Yea I'm still awaiting greatness.
Apparently when a Switch titles outselling other system versions,it means that the switch has nothing to play and any game can sell well on the system. But when a switch title doesn't sell as good as other system versions,it means that
That's actually pretty surprising since the Switch already has Zelda (though not a 2d one). I was considering this game for Switch but changed my mind since it didn't have a demo.
I've been playing this game and I have to say... it isn't fun. It isn't even all that good. I wanted to really like it, but it's just so bland. Maybe Switch owners are just eager to buy something but since this is also out on a console that offers a ton of choice, it's at the bottom of the list. If your game sells better on a system with a 3m install base than on a system with a 65m install base, then maybe there's something wrong with your game.
seems like the graphics of that game fit the system.
Actually that's great for the Switch cause balances out waiting for big games, and shows the indie scene is healthy there. Remember Madden, Destiny 2, BF1 content, Blaze Blue content, and other factors hit PS4 & XB1 recently. There's really no hate, just a lot of options.
Good for the Switch. Many developers should be looking at that platform, thinking about taking advantage of this low-gaming moment. PS users have many more games to choose.
It's the kind of game people want to play on the Switch.
Its a game for the target of the switch. Nothing more. Cartony, cute, chibi and colorful.
That's because there was nothing else to play when it came out. Everyone was pretty much done with Zelda, at least that's why I gave it a try.
considering there's not hundreds of other games competing/available this isn't really surprising get back to me when AC:O, Destiny 2, Madden 18, Star Wars Battlefront are sold more on the switch
Doom is coming to Switch this holiday & the new Wolfenstein Ii:The New Colossus is coming to the Switch in 2018.
are you saying they might sell more on the switch or are you saying the switch is getting more games?
Well just like sony fanboys tell xbox guys there is really nothing elese to play
Platinumed it on Vita.
Of course it's that type of game that fits well with Nintendo's library of games among other things.
wait wait wait wait, It was Wonderboy that sold more on Switch.
Boring. Still not interested in switch
