This week's Japanese sales include a strong debut for Everybody's Golf and Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2.
Splatoon truly is new Japan mascot, absolute insanity at this point. Will probably be bigger than Pokémon in Japan in some years.
Switch at double the PS4. Nice debut for Everybody's Golf. I really need to pick up this game.
And that's with still limited stock 😉
oh definitely. It could easily move many more units if people could actually get their hands on one.
PS4 beats 3DS. Good job Sony!
lol.. well at least you have something to cheer about I guess. 3DS is only at 22 million or so in Japan. So the PS4 only has like 16-17 million more units to sell to catch up.
Yep, by about 120 units.
PS4 is at 5.2 million, Switch at 1.5 million, so only 3.7 million gap.
yes, but the Switch is gaining each day... so the Switch will pass the PS4. The PS4 would be lucky to sell over 20 million units in Japan. The PS2 sold 23 million. PS3 sold 11 million. So the likelihood of the PS4 passing the 3DS is next to nothing.
The Switch has only been out for six months compared to almost 4 years for PS4. And, the Switch has outsold the PS4 3 to one in the first six months.
@Neondriďr The PS2 is at 22m since the 3DS passed it late last year.
@Neonridr at this rate, I think 15mil is a more realistic target for the PS4 in Japan before Sony release the PS5
It's a lot of fun. They really take the Golf thing and make a game out of it with great single player gameplay on top of super fun multiplayer with tons of (no paywalls) customization. And on top of all that it's a steal brand new for only $40.
Everybody's Golf had better debut than Monster Hunter on Switch?
Depends really, Monster Hunter sales were split since it only registered for 3 days on last weeks charts. That being said, again there are like 3 million more PS4 owners than Switch owners. So shouldn't a PS4 game outsell a Switch game? Plus, Japan loves those Hot Shot Golf games, so no surprise that it sold. Let's see which one sells more in the long run though.
Six Switch games in the top 20. Very good, Splatoon is killing it in Japan. I love that game, I love playing with friends and just having a blast.
50K Switches sold as well as 50k Splatoon2 copies lol, Coincidence?
So basically anyone that bought a Switch last week in Japan has also bought Splatoon 2. That is just insane. This franchise seemingly has the power to become the next Mario in Japan. And it seems like Nintendo is pushing for it as well with continuous updates and splatfests.
Some great games have to be incoming for the switch.. The localization waits are long too so it could be a while..
The god,Sony, already won Japan right there, seems like the mighty ps4 crushed the switch into pieces
Where did you get that idea?
And another trolls loses grip with reality. It would be sad if it wasn't so damn funny to watch. lol
Switch on top again. The power of Splatoon 2. Damn.
63 units for XB1 0.O Switch and PS4 are doing very well though.
That is last weeks numbers. Rocketed up to 78 this week!
Oops. Thank you for the correction.
A few weeks ago they sold 100 units. Now they're just dropping off, going the wrong way lol
Strong sales all round. I'm glad to see that Nintendo continuing to try new things has really paid off for them.
