NVIDIA Shield 2 Portable, Unreleased to Public, Found in Pawn Shop

Carl Williams writes, "If you are a mobile gamer then the NVIDIA Shield is probably the ultimate piece of hardware to play on. Released in 2013 we saw the Shield take off and become quite popular, despite the prohibitive cost of entry. A follow up hardware release was imminent. Even NVIDIA felt so because they filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)."

Eh big whoop. I mean, cool find, but the device itself is outdated.

I use to own a Shield Portable...actually bought it just a few months ago. Sold it a couple weeks ago when I discovered that the Moonlight streaming app existed and that I can get the same game streaming benefits on my smartphone.

So now I have a Dualshock 4 with the Nyko Smartphone Clip and a LG V10 with it's 5.7 inch 1440p screen streaming at 4K and 60fps. Looks amazing, plays amazing, and beats the Shield Portable 10 fold.

So yeah, interesting find considering it was suppose to have been released by now (probably not due to the Switch) but otherwise I find it's actual use pointless now.

Still, the Hell is it doing in a pawn shop?

I agree, the hardware is outdated but that doesn't make this any less interesting.

I am interested in how it got to a pawn shop. Like who pawned it, what was their job? The new owner didn't go into detail about whether there was any identifying information on it (Google account for instance).

Would be interesting to know more though.

What on earth are you talking about? The point is that it was unreleased and now discovered, so the point of the article is that they found an old piece of hardware that didn't make production, in a charity shop. It's therefore inherent that it's outdated - that's the very point.

I wonder how you price something like this at a pawn shop... unrealised piece of Nvidia hardware... it must be worth ten fold what they gave him.

The rest of your post is probably the reason it wasn't released in the first place. There's little reason to own one of these, really.

I would have no clue what to prize something like that at. I agree, they certainly didn't give h what it was worth.

It's not outdated. The Switch uses a lower end version of the same chip.

I'm just saying that as a find it's cool, I said that, but as to the device itself there's really no point to them anymore seeing as how phones can do it better and cheaper.

Lol whut? Its a SD 808.... Its not streaming games in 4k at 60fps, it runs super hot running games on that 2k screen it has..... I think you're getting confused with the camera being able to record in 4k @ 30fps or [email protected]
