J Station X: Ubisoft is a 'pioneer' of diversity and female characters in gaming, says CEO Yves Guillemot, who also reflects on the Assassin's Creed Unity controversy.
Nothing but PR talk
the worst Female characters ever appeared in games are in Ubisoft games .....Cringy , Unappealing, lame takeoff of men ,....Idiots at Ubisoft look how Jill Valentine in a 20 years old game was miles superior than any of your female character and take notes ...ogh my god i just remember the For Honor .."Raideeeeeers" yell (and final boss) and i m ashamed that i played that sht
What about Jade from Beyond Good and Evil?
I dont recall any names from ubi but i do remember most FF female games, unique, touching, powerful and some are just amazing. This is a lie as always as graphics and downgrades their games.
Yup. Either Yves is lying or he's just plain ignorant.
N4G seriously needs those "LAUGH REAXXX" for Ubisoft PR trash talk.
But make, buggy games...
So pioneers, why wasn't there a playable female character in Assassin's Creed: Unity? 🤣
Mind you a woman directed that one
Cause there wasn't, did there have to be? I dont recall any long haired Asian midgets in that one either, should the long haired Asian midget community be upset it wasn't represented?
Because the protagonist was male, and unless you want a male character with boobs and a vagina (because that's what you would have received), then that's all the reason that's necessary. Especially after factoring in the co-op.
Sorry Mr Yves, Aisha Tyler don't count. She's a real person.
But she IS a character.
More useless virtue signalling.
no actually you are not. you've pumped out the same recycled garbage for years and only now you're saying "In the next 18 months, several of Ubisoft’s biggest games will feature playable female characters and characters of color." take a seat and concentrate on making better games and not bragging about being something you're far from
Pioneers? Games with female characters existed before Ubisoft was even a thing, like Ms. Pacman.
Yes but Ms. Pacman is offensive to the Asian community, offensive to the fat community cause she's round and cant stop eating, offensive to the non-binary and transgenders because shes forced to identify as a woman, and offensive to the feminists because she came after her husband Pac who is a man and therefore the obvious enemy.
Alternate reality where he thinks Ubisoft made Horizon Zero Dawn.
Aloy is a female character done right.
They've got a funny way of showing diversity. All of the recent covers either have a bunch of guys holding guns, male assassins, and guys with swords. Where's this diversity again? It's sad when Nintendo and princess peach is more diverse than Ubisoft.
So confused as to why some people consider this a badge of honor
Because they got nothing else, their games are trash, they need to use the political angle to get good PR.
Whats really sad is that societal pressures have made it that way, if it wasn't for all the PC BS and pandering we're doing these days they wouldn't feel obligated to make these statements at all.
This is good news considering Gamers always been been from all cultures: African, Asian, Arab, European, American you name it and more and more females are gaming. Excellent with more diversity!
Good to see they have their priorities in order. Maybe worry about making games that aren't !#$% first.
That nice Ubisoft but when it comes to female characters western developers don't even come near the amount that Japanese developers have
Yet they've never done an Assassins Creed game with JUST a female character. A first class woman turned Assassin during WW2 where all the men have gone to war and she works behind the scenes to avenge her husband who was set up to be made out to be a German spy then killed. Her classy life in ruins she continues to train and snoop around behind the scenes where she finds out her husband was on the verge of exposing the templars using the war to manipulate events for the future. See I just made that up on the top of my head but clearly they can't.
They did, it's called Assassin's Creed: Liberation and was a Vita game in 2012 before being ported to the PS3/360 and PC in 2014.
A Main game not a spin off on a handheld hardly anyone cares much about
You can't see me, but I am face palming hardcore right now...
No one gives a s**t about your forced "diversity" Ubisoft. Just make the games you wanna make, stop pandering to the minority SJW blowhards.
Rather be a 'pioneer' of good games.
Ugly female characters.
The new Mirror's Edge was diverse. Shame it sucked, but hey, let's get the priorities right.
They sure are hard to animate though...
Imagine an Ubisoft/Bethesda collabiration to animate a female character climbing a ladder.
Some words of wisdom. https://www.youtube.com/wat...
the amount of brownie points people want these days,,,,
I can't stop hating on Ubisoft and they half finished games...
Gender is a social construct. Get back to me when you've pioneered non-gendered species-independant characters, the truly marginalized.
the feminist agenda strikes again
