Jason Stettner of Gamerheadquarters writes; "One of the best recent things to come from gaming are the creation of game passes or well subscription based models to access games."

“More Publishers Should Create Subscription Services”

Yea that’s all we need are 25 subscription services. Smh.

skycaptin5178d ago

As mentioned in the article not a ton of them, but I wouldn't mind a couple from the large publishers that provide extra benefits like EA Access

Godmars290178d ago

We'd get a ton of them regardless.

ULTp0ltergeist178d ago

Why the downvotes it's better for all gamers and will only be an option. Whoever has tried EA Access will know this is true.

Kribwalker178d ago

EA Access is fantastic. $30 for all the ea releases within a year, wicked

Krysis178d ago

Yeah but for some it's not a good deal because they were told it's not and that they can't have the option to find out for themselves.

Silly gameAr178d ago

I see what you're trying to do now. Is this one of those "you guys are missing out on an awesome service" articles where you try to make PS4 owners feel bad that they don't have (and don't really care about) EA Access?

Godmars290178d ago

Meh. PS4 owners have PSNow to give them an idea what something like EA access is worth. Even if Sony charges more.

Princess_Pilfer178d ago

You're paying EA. That automatically makes it bad. Don't give money to EA, for any reason, or they'll never stop being shit.

Kribwalker178d ago

So is it bad that Sony gives them a bunch of money to promote battlefront and NHL and now FIFA?

ULTp0ltergeist178d ago

Even $30 a year for all that gaming, fangirls will always find an excuse to downplay it. At least they can stream their games which in their opinion would be better because their leaders told them so.

Spoken like someone who can't get EA Access on their platform

segamaniaco178d ago

You cant get share play, you dont have the choice

All my couch multiplayer games are automaticaly online for free

Software_Lover178d ago

Its called having a choice, for those that are interested.

There are multiple hardware manufacturers but many people only choose to buy one. There are various ways to buy games on pc.

Wow, there are even multiple games that come out every week but we dont buy everyone. We make a choice.

Ghost_of_Tsushima178d ago

“Its called having a choice, for those that are interested.“

Was it a choice when Origin took games off Steam forcing you to use their service? Because stuff like like will happen when there’s a choice of 25 subscription services.

segamaniaco178d ago

Eventually 99% will fail and the market will select the best services

But maybe its good for competitions sake

agent4532178d ago

Not 25 more like 10 or 5. 25 subscriptions would only work if is $9.99 a month or $60.00 a year.

Only $30 a year and I get games nearly free? Eh, I don't mind being called corporate shill. But then you're advocating for something more expensive so what does that make you?

I'm good, I just wanna buy my games the old fashioned way.

Krysis178d ago

I'm not saying this should happen but what's wrong with having the option. You will always be able to buy your games the old fashion way.

Ghost_of_Tsushima178d ago

Because options can turn bad. They could start locking content behind the subscription services pushing you to buy into them. This is a corporate dream and a gamers nightmare.

rainslacker178d ago

Too much of a good thing tends to saturate the market to the point where no one cares about any of it, or only one or two actually become successful.

While I have no problem with other companies doing this if they so choose, I can't see it becoming successful across the board, and likely the only companies which will be successful are those that have the most to offer, and unfortunately, those are the companies which most of us tend to not be that fond of, like EA, Ubi, or Activision.

It's not that EA hasn't impressed me with this service, while I was a doubter at the beginning, just that despite the inherent value, I just don't see the appeal of having a lot of different choices for these kinds of services.

segamaniaco178d ago

Like some locked content on UPlay service

Silly gameAr178d ago (Edited 178d ago )

No, they shouldn't. I'm not paying for 1,000 different subscriptions.

Krysis178d ago

Um you know you wouldn't be obligated to subscribe, you would have a choice. Well unless you only play on PS4, then I doubt you would.

Silly gameAr178d ago (Edited 178d ago )

However you try to justify it dude. It's also funny that you would single out PS4 in your comment. But, you are right. There would be no obligation to sub, but if people are complaining about all of the subs we have now, (PS plus, PSnow, xboxlive, whatever that other thing that xbox has is called) what makes you think that people would want that "choice" when they're already complaining about the ones we have already?

I mention PS4 because it's relevant to the discussion, Sony has made it clear this kind of thing will not happen on their console. So this argument is moot for any PS4 gamer. Don't get defensive and think I'm trying to some stupid fanboy crap, I'm over 12 years old

rainslacker178d ago

How is the argument moot just because he's a PS4 gamer and Sony doesn't give the choice? The topic is broad in scope, not a console thing.

Your the one that brought up the PS4 without making it relevant to the conversation, because all the OP did was say he didn't want 1000 different subs. So, you have to tell us how the PS4 is relevant to the conversation at hand, when the topic and the OP made no mention of it.

segamaniaco178d ago

Ea access will compete with psnow on ps4

Its called business

agent4532178d ago

Exactly what do you mean?
