Street Fighter at Evo 2017 Tops League of Legends’ Viewer Count Over the Weekend

GitHyp: "The biggest fighting game tournament of the year lived up to the hype with the Street Fighter V main event at Evo 2017 bringing in over two hundred thousand concurrent viewers on Twitch — enough to just barely top League of Legend’s on Sunday, which saw its viewers down 13% from the same time last year."

The story is too old to be commented.

street fighter v was hype

Eh, lame comparison. It only topped it on Sunday on a regular old day for League. If it were compared to a League event then it would make more sense but seeing as how it took Capcom's biggest event to beat League during a normal day of operation it makes Leagues dominance more telling.

Dude get it together. League is number one on twitch any day of the week. For SFV, a game that allegedly sucks and is dying, that's phenomenal.

Not to mention it's not normally a big stream game all year around anyway

SF has always been an esport focused game and that's why it launched terribly, it had content for esports players not casuals. Saying that the views mean something would be admitting that King of Fighters, Blazeblue, and the other fighting games should also have done extremely well because they had view counts at EVO too.

Buddha you have no clue what you are talking about. Yeah they were at EVO but grand finals for any game outside of SFV, grand finals or not, topped at 35k. I know because I watched it all. Always do. Those other games you mentioned, which I play and follow also, do not have the appeal of SFV. Not even close. No matter how much you want it to prove otherwise, SFV killed during EVO.

I watch it every year too. I follow the FGC on the regular and also enjoy League of Legends. If you'd follow both you would know the scope is far smaller when it comes to Street Fighter. The game is literally in its second year of being in an actual coliseum while League has been there for a long while now.

Its own fandom knows Street Fighter it's not what it used to be. A simple look at the peak between Tekken and SFV on Steam will show you that.

lol you are silly. Tekken, while I love the hell out of it (and played league for years btw), is nowhere near Street Fighter V. As usual they are the #1 and #2 most played games at any tournament, Tekken still has a long way to go in terms of players. Fighting games as a whole are niche compared to their heyday. But the entry numbers match the stream numbers. More than double. https://smash.gg/tournament...

That Akuma tokido match was epic
