I'm not so sure about that especially how rough partnership between MS and Japanese Game Industry.
Doesn't mean they can't improve that relationship. Won't happen overnight but if MS makes the right moves it's definitely possible.

Well, JP gamers (like PS4 fanboys) need to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. McDonald's wasnt an overnight success there. It took time and dedication and adhering to the culture. Giving up is seen as an insult to the JP culture which has a history of honor and loyalty. MS must also be honorable and loyal in return.

@Donkey- I mean sure, it won't happen overnight, but dear gold, they've had 16 years to get their act together in that region. Sony sold 100 million and had Japan on lock in 1 generation. MS isn't doing much to change their situation. Want Japanese support? Make a some Japanese teams to make JAPANESE GAMES! Fixed. They can't be as stupid as to not know what they need to do, its not as if Sony KNEW they would move 100 million with PS1, consider such a thing had never happened with a console before PS1. Try. Actually INVEST! This shouldn't be rocket science.

That's a good question. I think it depends on what sort of Japanese games appear on Xbox. Visual novels and dating sims just don't have much appeal in the West.
Japanese fighting games are already really popular on Xbox. And FFXV is the fastest selling FF on Xbox. It's not about where the game comes from for Xbox gamers. It's about how it plays.
@Lennyboy63 Final Fantasy 15 is the best selling because 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14 didnt release on Xbox. So pretty much you are comparing it to 2 other games, one of which was online only. Nice example you used there. /s

So should MS not even try and get more games on Xbox from Japan? Not every Japanese game sells gangbusters on Playstation too. We heard nothing but complaints about variety and niche titles, here we have a general push for them and now we bring up "what about da salez".

It sounds to me like he wants Japanese companies to stop making their games so Japanese, which is not going to improve sales at all. I don't know if it could possibly get worse, but if it could, that's how you'd do it.
So many Japanese devs trying to cater to the western market is one reason they kind of went downhill last gen. Almost all the big budget Japanese games were very western in their presentation, and if you weren't aware of their lineage, you couldn't even tell they were Japanese games. Japanese games have their own distinct flair most of the time. Not always, but often. Like Dino Crisis. Very western, but still very Japanese. I like that Japanese games are getting more recognition this gen while staying more Japanese in their presentation. IMO, that should have never been an issue. But that's what happens when you start designing games around focus groups, as opposed to creative freedom.
You gotta give him credit for not giving up. But I'm not sure the Japan industry feels as much the same way.
All they gotta do to get Japanese support is to get the customer base on Xbox that plays Japanese games, or make their current base more interested in Japanese games. Nothing gets support like software sales, and MS has to do it's part to actively get Japanese software sales on Xbox to prove it's worth making those games on the system. This is one reason they get these exclusive Japanese games on their system, despite it defying logic. They hope they'll sell so they can use those numbers to get more support. Unfortunately for MS, they either choose games that aren't going to sell huge numbers to begin with, or they get the big games that don't have a customer base on the system, and then give up when it doesn't do well.

Wait now you guys want these games? I mean I know some of you might, but all we normally hear from the overall majority of the Xbox camp is they do not even like or want these types of games. It's great to hear though that they are trying to broaden their dev relations overseas. It would be great for you guys to get new and more games for your system and I hope it all works out for those that do want those type of experiences.
I hear more from PlayStation fans that Japanese games shouldn't release on Xbox than Xbox gamers complain about it.
That's because XBOX gamers simply don't care. When Japanese games are released on their system, they just ignore them. They're irrelevant to them. But, for someone who is actually a fan of those games, we remember the first time Microsoft tried it, which led to the DEATH of mid to high budget Japanese games. I see no problem with putting multiplatform games on XBOX, but Japanese exclusives on a Microsoft console is nonsensical, and a guaranteed failure.
Good would like to see a new lost Odessy and Blue Dragon and someone to complete Scalebound or start from the ground up , also get someone to help make a follow up to Ninja Blade . Do that and all are day one buys .

So basically the game was announced early and it didnt reach deadlines and wasn't worth continuing. Especially when development efforts are divided among other projects.
