I could say the same for Sony with their press conference, legitimately one dude showing a montage of games and scripted trailers, and zero hype from the crowd, say what you will about MS but at least the announced some great support for their platform both old and new and even opened up one of their most successful games to players of other platforms.

Meanwhile Sony is sitting here having audio issues on twitch, showing off a bunch of games we've seen, their biggest game at E3 being a PS2 remake, and not even talking about most of the games shown beyond trailers.

All true about Sony. Problem is that there was NOTHING to get excited about from Msft. At least Sony had 4 or 5 heavy hitters albeit most of them were already announced.

Fact remains that there is a LOT of goodness to look forward to from Sony's 1st party games. Microsoft??? Not so much.

While I agree Sony played it pretty safe, Monster Hunter, Spider-Man, and Days Gone all look pretty great. 2 of those are exclusives and one will probably end up on Switch.

Moving past that, Sony still has two more shows this year: TGS and PSX. They often save Indies, Vita games, and progress reports for PSX, but E3 2017 was pretty much a progress report, so don't be surprised if we get some big announcements then. Moreover, TGS is often loaded with games I care about. Historically, Ni No Kuni, Persona, Gravity Rush, and other great games get shown there so I'm cool with it.

I won't be greedy. The first half of this year has been truly spectacular. E3 could have been better, but I'd be lying if I said Sony didn't bring it this year. They really did.

That's what happens when you don't have any real competition to push you. There's no pressure for Sony because they are in the drivers seat. But this is what PlayStation fans want, to see Sony become a monopoly. If they do totally take over one day this is exactly how E3 will be from now on. Bland and boring, but apparently this generation doesn't see the good of having competition.

You think their biggest game was SotC? Are you insane? SotC is a niche classic, God of War, Gran Turismo, Uncharted, etc. are all bigger hitters than SotC. Either you're a fanboy or just aren't thinking clearly. Was it the best conference ever? Not really. But they showed a TON of incredible actually exclusive titles that all look great and fun. Spider Man stole the show.

I think Microsoft went to far just to support Xbox one games in 4k. It does not matter, and great for Xbox only players to finally be in the true hd this gen, but with their known inability to make games... just nothing to get excitied for if you are not a Microsoft fan.

I think the price is justified by the hardware. And it is an improvement over the pro, spec-wise, period. But just from N4g tons of fans think this console is THE beast that will play everything 4k60fps, maybe for them, sadly, it is just what you thought it would be.

Xbox one X is a luxury console, it's not meant for people who are trying to save money, it's for people who are willing to spend the cash to get the power, and don't want to deal with potential issues they may arise when working with a PC. It's more powerful than the PS4 pro out the gate and can run native 4K games without breaking a sweat.

I think MS releasing the Xbox one X this year was a great idea honestly, they allowed everyone to get hype and increased the maximum exposure for the console before finally releasing it, the fact that it's coming out November gives people something to look forward to or save up for.

People need to realizing it's all about marketing honestly, and if MS markets this platform correctly and shows off it's strength it can be a success. After the weak E3 conference Sony had this year they'll be a lot more vulnerable to being over taken by the likes of Nintendo or MS. I think they got cocky and forgot they actually had to still compete.

Then racing is racing with multiple options while Sony is making theirs very competitive with actual competitions.(but to each their own on preference)

Plus, maybe I'm in the minority here, but I don't care if they do. VR games all look awful. I suffered through 10 minutes of that garbage at Sony's show.

As soon as VR has a game that looks exactly like a game you would play with a controller, and a way to accurately move and spin around within the room you are in, I don't see the point. Right now it's just like taping a TV to your face and using crappy motion controls. I don't get the appeal.

And if you look at the thread on here where people were live posting during Sony's conference, I see I'm not alone. There were a number of people complaining about it.

But I agree with you, it is not a make or break and the legs of vr is still unknown... but it sold over a million units on the console.
That is a lot as far as install base goes... but Kinect sold 9 million last gen and they did not end well so who knows.

I thought it would be a 4K console. What did everyone else think it would be? Did you think everything would be 60 fps, too? You did? That's your fault. If you just took a simple look at the specs you'd realize the limitations brought on by the CPU. What people need to understand is that Xbox One X is not an FPS console. It's a resolution console. Both PS4 Pro and Xbox One X were made to compliment 4K displays, because this is where we are in display technology now. These are not really 'performance' (fps) consoles. They've got weak CPUs that can't tackle high framerates at high resolutions (some exceptions here). These consoles were made specifically for 4K, not 60fps. Temper your expectations, people.

Which is fine with me, and most gamers got way too brainwashed and misinformed about high framerate for consoles. If they want higher framerate get a high end PC! I got the best of both worlds, and when it comes down to multiplatform games I'm very selective on what version to get a game on. Some developers have a bad track record on developing the PC version of games. So gamers need to get use to it. Microsoft X One X will have more games running in 4K than the PRO, and some of those games like the first party exclusives will run 4K60FPS.

It's funny, a few weeks ago all I remember seeing is people still saying that it wouldn't be powerful enough to do True 4k, and would have to rely on faking it like the PS4P.

Now, it's definitely doing true 4k, but people act like they are surprised that it doesn't also do 60 fps?

Where did anyone ever get that expectation from? Hell, I didn't expect it to do true 4k on a lot of games, so I'm super happy with what I'll be getting in November. The best game console ever made.

As a primary Xbox gamer the last two generations (Ps2 and PS1 before that), I was completely let down by this E3, even more so by MS in general. The console is impressive, the Xbox One X that is, and the price point isnt even bad, what a lot of us expected, but where are the games for it? I currently have a really expensive and top tier Samsung (about 3 years old, top tier at the time) but not 4K. I was hoping for a system that would push me over to get a new samsung or LG OLED 4k TV to game on Xbox One X in true 4k glory. What I got was a beautiful looking Forza and a bunch of decent third party games. I was completely let down by Crackdown 3, the early tech demo 2-3 years ago showed complete destruction and a real impressive tech demo, but now the game looks more cartoony. At the end of that conference I felt completely empty with what was ahead. Some ID@Xbox games that are ok and the best game there is a multiplat, Anthem.

I watched Sonys last night. Listen, I am not a fanboy one way or the other, I love gaming. I had a PS3 with my Xbox 360 last gen but this gen. went with the Xbox One. I have had an awesome time with my Xbox and still plan to play it a lot, but when I saw games like Days Gone, Detroit Becoming Human, God of War, etc, I felt excited. Those are games I want. I told my wife this morning I am not planning on get the Xbox One X come launch day and I will hold off on the 4k TV until I can save up for a top tier OLED and I will invest in the PS4 slim Uncharted 4 bundle. I have always enjoyed Sony, but as I get older (32 now), I just want to play good games and Sony is delivering on that premise.

I am not a fanboy, so please don't come at me like that, you can see many years worth of comments supporting Xbox in Xbox sections. This is just the sentiment of a gamer who just wants to enjoy, well, gaming.

1) It's a very capable system and
2) the price seems to be right for what you get

BUT

1) it's coming both too late and too early in the game
2) it doesn't have anywhere near enough interesting AAA exclusives given its price
3) it's ugly and has a silly name
4) it's nonetheless too expensive for mass-market
