I bet my bottom dollar the Scorpio will retail for $400

cell9892504d ago

If it does, they will sell extremely fast. That's the sweet spot for a price. But it's too good to be true

4Sh0w2504d ago

-Nah $499 unless they are trying to take huge upfront losses....I wouldn't, I would start at $499 because it will sell fairly well the first year at that price to enthusiasts, why lose big $$$ just to say hey at least we sold them X number if consoles fast.

meatnormous2504d ago

If its a true 4k machine, it will not cost 400.00.

dcbronco2504d ago

This is proof Scorpio will be $399. Microsoft isn't concerned with selling the S anymore. They want to flood the market with Scorpio. It's the proper play. Take slight losses that they will make up for with software. And they won't be that bad. Solidify the Xbox brand. Bring in the low end PC gamers with 4K and mouse and keyboard support.

Scorpio will fly off the shelves at that price. Plus those who can't afford a Scorpio now will be encourage to buy S because you know your library will carry and be enhanced once you move up to Scorpio.

Nodoze2503d ago (Edited 2503d ago )

Seriously Bronco??? MS wants to flood the market with Scorpio?

Xbox chief Phil Spencer said: "Scorpio will be a premium console. It will cost more than [the Xbox One] S, obviously; that's how we are building it."

Microsoft shareholders will not stand for massive hardware losses after they spent all this money.

Even in the rare chance it comes in at 399 it isn't going to fly off anything. That is still not priced for mass adoption. Not even the PS4 Pro (with a signficantly better software library) is flying off shelves at 399. So again, Ain't going to happen.

That would be a great price point but I think $499 is more realistic

BarneyS2504d ago (Edited 2504d ago )

That's exactly what ms wants people to think, so they can shock people with the 399 pricepoint. They've continiously said it's gonna be a premium console so people expect a high price now, that's why I think it's gonna be 399 cause most people don't expect that.

MagicBeanz2504d ago (Edited 2504d ago )

You're probably not a person who should be making bets than.

MegamanXXX2504d ago

Microsoft will lose a lot of money if they price it at 399

darthv722504d ago

Initially.... yes. But isnt most profits from software sales?

MegamanXXX2504d ago (Edited 2504d ago )

Yes but what's the reason to release the Scorpio? To make profit right? I stilI think it should at least be $449 to $499 to make profit. At this point Microsoft needs to sell software and hardware to make profit.

CR7JUVE18972504d ago

@darth, while that may be true, if there are no Scorpio-specific titles coming out, where would they recoup the money? I can't see it being 399.00, as much as my wallet would love it. I'm thinking 499.00 at minimum.

4Sh0w2504d ago

- Yeah Darth that's true bit it's called BALANCE, the hardware is pricey, consoles tend to always take a lost upfront but you simply cant lose your shirt just to please everyone, you have to price it so that you don't lose too much upfront.

gangsta_red2504d ago

The real money is through subscriptions and in game microtransactions. This is why Phil and MS have been discussing this recently for their games. So I could see MS sacrificing the price to try and get this new console in the hands of as many gamers as possible and then go from there.

But even still I'm going to also say $450 with the slight possibility of $399.

dcbronco2503d ago

Microsoft would lose a lot less than companies lost on previous generations. People have forgotten already that besides Nintendo the norm in console manufacture was to lose over $100 per unit at launch and make it up with install base and price adjustments later.

Scorpio will be in the $460-80 range to manufacture and will fly off the shelves at $399. Microsoft will struggle to keep pace at that price and developers are excited to see how far they can push it. Technological advances have changed the way any technology is priced. This is the information age, you should expect to get more bang for your buck.

it has to be 399

I don't think people are willing to pay 500 bucks for a res bump

XanderZane2504d ago

I'm still saying $499, but I won't be mad if they give a price lower then that.

modelgod2503d ago

I'll bet you, being that I know the price. This is the last time I will tell you ppl. SCORPIO WILL BE 429.99$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

If Sony is smart, they will drop the price of the Pro, or bundle it with something! Make it the choice for anyone with a 4k TV.

Christopher2504d ago

They probably won't do that until about 3 months before the Scorpio release. Get as much for it for as long as they can. Drop it when competition looms to boost sales and get people entrenched with their product. They also NEED to have titles that show off the Pro's power to compete with the Scorpio later this year.

joab7772503d ago

Exactly. I don't mean at E3. Sorry. I mean at the time Scorpio launches.

Bronxs152504d ago (Edited 2504d ago )

Ya pair the pro with ur brand new checkerboard tv. Leave the 4k tvs for Scorpio lol.

slappy5082503d ago (Edited 2503d ago )

Yeah all those great xbox exclusives in 4k. Oh wait.

Bronxs152503d ago

Yeah Xbox has nothing to play. It isn't getting red dead redemption 2 shadow of wars or anthem. Oh wait.

joab7772503d ago

Dude, I want to play them both. The difference now is that Sony is stacking AAA exclusives. Bit Ill buy a Scorpio for Anthem and Madden. Just wish they had something! We will see. Maybe Scalebound was a huge ploy!!

snoopgg2503d ago

Scorpio better be the beast like they are hyping it to be. It better not ever use checkerboarding, or I won't let you here the end of your true 4k beast. Have fun with the multiplats, csuse your exclusives will be sparce.

Who the hell wants a pro? Seriously? Your better off w/a PS4, or a X1 Slim. The PS Pro is garbage and Sony knows it!!

joab7772503d ago

Except...It isn't! For $400 you can play a ton of games in 4k. Tell me checkerboard and Ill show you the insane difference when playing Skyrim, F4, Horizon, Nioh etc. For those who have 4k TVs, it is great!

And again, Ill reference all of the hatred that Sony got when Neo was leaked. They handled it perfectly and now they are demonized for not making a greater jump. Can't win!

snoopgg2503d ago (Edited 2503d ago )

So dumb , why would anyone want the xboxs, it is pure garbage and you know it.The gamers have spoke, and bought Sony consoles this gen, cause xbox brand sucks right now

Rainbow Cotton Interview: Lead Programmer Sheds Light on the Dreamcast Remake

VGChartz's Evan Norris: "If you haven't played Rainbow Cotton before, you're not alone. A Dreamcast exclusive released only in Japan, it's not exactly a household name. Looking to change that, and bring the sixth-gen game back into the spotlight, is German studio KRITZELKRATZ 3000, which — with the backing of publisher ININ and original developer SUCCESS — has remade the 3D shoot-'em-up from the ground up. Featuring several modern quality-of-life upgrades, plus HD graphics and a brand new local co-op mode, it promises to merge the past and present when it launches digitally on consoles and PC on May 9.

Ahead of the game's release, I chatted with Andreas Scholl, technical director at KRITZELKRATZ 3000 and lead programmer for Rainbow Cotton, about what fans can expect from the remake."
