Many people disagree. But I think this is the future of the game, and a great Microsoft move.

freshslicepizza2518d ago

Right now the hardware is the barrier and I agree, this is the future. We have seen it in music and in movies already.

murderlo2518d ago

Exact. We just need the open mind of the audience to understand it

montrovat2516d ago

I agree, this will be the future of video games. Is another big step forward by Microsoft

notyonka2518d ago

The best move Microsoft could ever take

murderlo2518d ago

I agree.
But many people do not approve

chris2352518d ago

yup, it's the future. very good for gamers, very bad for kids and people who cannot afford their games and need physical copies to trade in an get new ones.

JasonKCK2518d ago

It's not dead, but it is dying fast.

murderlo2518d ago

I did not mean to say he's dead. I wanted to say that it has little future

XXanderXX2517d ago

Not yet but it will one day .

rainslacker2515d ago

Apparently physical has been dead for close to a decade now, yet physical sales still outpace digital sales.

Go figure.

Well, the Xbox was never marketed towards kids. Not that kids shouldn't/can't buy it. But that you can rely on adults to be able to afford an internet connections. If an adult can't afford a video games than maybe they need to reevaluate their spending. Plenty of games/consoles for those on a tight budget.

murderlo2517d ago

Yes, but the rules of the game change, and we must adapt.

EatCrow2517d ago

20$ is actually the most accessible for kids. So I disagree entirely. If I had been able to have something like this in the genesis n64 days and ps1 I wouldve loved and and spent much less money on games. It would have been amazing during summer vacations.

Liqu1d2517d ago

It's actually more similar to Netflix than XGP is. Netflix is a streaming service, XGP isn't.

murderlo2517d ago

I agree.
But, do you prefer a streaming system?

iplay1up22517d ago

Games Pass, is better, not because of the games, but because you get to download the full games. When streaming NOW many have lag issues. Due to internet connection, so that leaves some players out. Games Pass you have the entire game.

Also, there are many 360 games, but also XB1 games, such as Gears of War Remaster, Sunset Overdrive, Halo 5, and more. Now only has PS3 games.

andrewsquall2517d ago

On PS Now you can literally play a game instantly very similar to something like Netflix. How is downloading a 97gb game like Halo 5 ANYTHING like Netflix lol???
And if Xbone is anything like it was at launch, you can't even play the single player part or anything at all until that download is 100% complete. The future lol.

EatCrow2517d ago

I guess patience is something people develop much later in life now.

Streaming sucks. Having to be always online sucks.

FunAndGun2517d ago

You can have your opinion, but PSNow is more like Netflix than XGP. That is just a fact.

I don't care if you prefer one over the other, but two of them are streaming and one is download only.

Your personal feelings on what is better is subjective. Personally I would prefer streaming because I can play 300+ games within minutes. I had PSNow for a year and it worked very well, actually was surprised how well it did work. Downloading games takes so much time JUST to even try it out.
They are similar services, and I could easily see how others would pick one over the other depending on preferences. As for this article, there is no debate about what service is more reflective of Netflix.

rainslacker2515d ago

Yeah, nothing like being patient when you just want to play a game on a whim. This plan takes some planning, or stocking up like it's a DVR.

Streaming is hit or miss depending on one's connection though, so download can be more suitable for a lot of people given the current state of internet infrastructure and the more common download speeds. I've had luck with streaming, but I accept that there are those that won't have the same experience. If infrastructure becomes better, or the compression tech becomes better, or the average internet speeds in people's home go up(which is likely over time), then streaming would be better. Even Netflix had issues for a lot of people when they first made that into a big part of their service. Now it's not as much of a problem for many.

Won't happen, software is where all the money is made. These companies take losses on these consoles and then make up for it with software sales.
