"Like its predecessors, Hell's Highway dramatically portrays the struggles of a close-knit company of American soldiers in World War II. The cast from the first two games returns, and the story picks up right where it left off. The problem is that Hell's Highway doesn't make me care about the characters as much as the other installments did. Perhaps it's because we don't get the powerful monologues that really helped flesh out the main character in the first game (I never played the sequel), or because the midbattle loss of a squadmate seems relatively unimportant -- they miraculously stand back up at the next checkpoint -- but I never developed an attachment to any character, which made the story sequences feel far less important. A shame, since they take up so much time."
