"The Wild Eight Dev Will Work Hard To Achieve 4K/60fps On Scorpio, 12GB RAM Is A Big Number"

A top down survival game. Hardly surprising it's possible to achieve 4K/60fps.

Kingthrash3602524d ago (Edited 2524d ago )

Yeah man I think the craze of thinking major games will achieve native 4k 60fps with 6tf will dissapoint many. Games like this is possible because they are not demanding....even still they are "working hard" and "won't commit" to saying they will achieve 4k 60. It's fine just to achieve 60 fps, imo the resolution matters less. But so many people are ignoring so much that the scorpio bound to dissapoint.
The PR behind the scorpio is becoming too much of a craze. I just want to know the price of it all. Will games suffer just to achieve higher resolution? What price do gamers have to pay just to get a bump in resolution? I can't wait until it's all said and done. Reality will have to kick in starting with E3.

@Kingthrash360
"But so many people are ignoring so much that the scorpio bound to dissapoint."

All you've done since it was announced is try and help people into thinking this will be a disappointment.

"The PR behind the scorpio is becoming too much of a craze."

Isn't that what PR is supposed to do, create hype? You on the other hand seem to want to do the opposite probably because you have issues with the company or some other personal agenda.

Scorpio is giving developers more freedom thanks to having more power to work with but you somehow want to translate this into something else.

Hy-po-crite. You have such a lack of self-awareness, it's crazy.

DaGreatOne2524d ago

@moldy coming from somebody that's been doing that with all things related to psvr, I'd figure you wouldn't have a problem with this comment.

bluefox7552524d ago

Pretty much this. Xbox fans will see this as you trashing Xbox, but frankly I think it's a rational way to look at it. So many are talking like most games on the console will be running at 4k/60fps, and that's just not gonna happen with 6tf. You can be excited about Scorpio while simultaneously keeping your expectations realistic. All they're doing now is opening themselves up for disappointment and fanboys from the other side saying "I told ya so."

Kingthrash3602524d ago (Edited 2524d ago )

100% this^^^^

In no way am I denouncing the scorpio well all know it's more powerful than the pro...as it should be releasing a year later and more expensive (ideally)
But the PR is over hyping it to a level of blindness unseen in gaming.
The information is there you just need to read it.
The whole destiny2 thing is full on proof of this. People saying the pro is causing parity with the scorpio by being 30fps...but if you look at the interview he says the pros gpu wasn't the problem at all, it was the cpu...the scorpio cpu is only 9% more powerful so in reality the scorpio isn't powerful enough to run it at 60fps either. Bit it's all covered by the pr of an xbox exec saying they don't force parity between xbo and scorpio and a tweet from a xbox journalist suggesting sony paid for parity....it's all PR fake lies. Smh since when is a marketing deal effect development choices as deep as fps? It's just all hype and will end in disappointment.
It's cool to be hype but when you are blinded by it it's something else entirely.

343_Guilty_Spark2524d ago

I think you're going to be proven wrong.

xsta1ker2524d ago

major games not achiving native 4k 60fps will not be a disappointment because most xbox fans understand
about hardware constraints.
even great gaming pc's have constraints depending on the games thats why most pc games
have multiple graphic settings.
so if any xbox fans believe all major games will run 4k 60fps they need to do some research.
now saying that it's not as harsh as the pitcher your Tring to paint kingthrash...
sure some huge AAA open world RPG's or open world shooters won't hit 4k 60fps and thats just common sense
but a lot of major AAA games action games sports games and obviously exclusives will hit that mark
and hit that mark quit easley.

so imo the only thing xbox fans will truly find disappointing is whenever a game does not hit 4k 60fps in those
games because of the reasons i just pointed out... most sony fans will be there to criticize for no reason but to make themselves feel better about there choice of console.

XStation4pio_Pro2524d ago (Edited 2524d ago )

better tech is better tech. its not a craze. its the single reason we don't play on NES consoles anymore. its why nobody owns a vcr and why even dvd's are becoming obsolete. its also worth mentioning that even if not every AAA game hits 4k/60, they are still going to be hitting true 4k with solid frame rates. thats more than can be said for any console right now. i say that as an owner of the ps4 pro, the xbox one s and now as of today the nintendo switch (yeah i'll give it an honest go but so far my feelings are mixed). scorpio will be the console that delivers the superior performance of multiplatform games. thats nothing against ps4, thats just sheer specs. also keep in mind - the power isn't just about resolution or frame rates - its also about what can be done in-game. more geometry, more dynamic lighting, ray tracing, subsurface scattering, higher poly geo, etc... devs can use the power however they want. i will tell you though, 4k tv's are cheaper than ever and they aren't going away.

xsta1ker2524d ago

also kingthrash if your going to post 9% paper sheet of just the clock speed to prove some kind of point
your tring to make.
why don't you continue with the full specs of the scorpio cpu it's ok we all no why... I'll fill in the blanks for
you like the over 60 customized points to prevent bottlenecking in the cpu or dx12 being hard coded to the gpu's
custom processers to reduce 1000ins of draw calls to just 11 and take up to 50% workload of the cpu.
just forgot those little details did ya.

LexHazard792524d ago

Man you guys need to go outside and sweat off that sodium.

81BX2524d ago

What do you expect? Kingtrash has consistently trolled anything MS. What's crazy is he thinks he providing unbiased opinions at times. He can't help but hate, it's in his DNA. Oh well. Scorpio is coming , like it or not.

omegaheat2524d ago (Edited 2524d ago )

Kingthrash360, just admit that you don't intend to get the Scorpio. Shouldn't the same concerns you are now having about the Scorpio be the same concerns about the PS4 Pro? Oh wait, it's Microsoft that you have a problem with. Moving on.

4Sh0w2524d ago

kingthrash,

Nah, no disappointment because Xbox fans aren't expecting every game to be 4K60fps. Nope, just a more powerful console with better graphics and performance= the truth is you seem to be very bothered with any good news for Scorpio.

Soc52524d ago

Exactly! Why so much fuss over 4K? Most people are more interested in enhanced graphical effects than a resolution bump that uses half of your horsepower

2524d ago
TheCommentator2523d ago

The concept is simple, if it's at least 900p/60 on XB1 it will be 4k/60 on Scorpio. If it's only 30fps on XB1, it'll be 30fps on Scorpio. Who honestly expects that the system will push 8x more pixels with the specs it has anyways? That notion is absurd.

IMO, people who think every Scorpio game should be 4K/60 are just delusional Sony trolls setting unrealistic goals... so they can say, "I told you it wouldn't be 4K/60 for everything!"

donthate2523d ago

I think a lot of people will be disappointed indeed. Specifically, the fanboys of any platform, but Xbox. Scorpio is a monster!

gangsta_red2523d ago

@Kingthrash

"But the PR is over hyping it to a level of blindness unseen in gaming."

Here's the issue, where is the PR that is over hyping this? Especially when we still have little to know about Scorpio? Many of you confuse or pretend that general excitement is some type of "overhyping" or "PR".

This is why many have disagreed with you because you're making up or over exaggerating what many fans are expecting for the Scorpio. Many on this site have said and pointed out and even replied to you in the past that they recognize that not all devs will have their games in native 4k, MS has specifically said it is up to the developer.

Many here are creating an artificial crisis then I guarantee that when a game for Scorpio comes out that isn't 4k we'll folks on here saying "See, see, I told you all, but Xbox fans didn't want to believe me!"

Neonridr2524d ago

then the Pro should have no problems achieving that then too right? right?

DaGreatOne2524d ago

To be fair, nearly every game that has achieved this has been downplayed in some shape or form by fanboys.

WeAreLegion2524d ago

Right, actually. It shouldn't be too hard on the Pro.

Mulando2523d ago (Edited 2523d ago )

The pro is more or less a doubled PS4. The CPU is faster but not much.
More than doubled GPU, but it has not the bandwidth or the CPU to just get the double framerate if the PS4 reaches stable 30.
Currently it is hard to achieve 4k res with higher details on PS4 pro. One limiting factor is the RAM. Sony only upped it by 0.5 GB for games, that's not much if you want textures with higher resolution in the memory.
With scorpio at least the memory shouldn't be the problem, as games have at least 3 GB more. The CPU on the other hand ...well it is just a bit better than the PS4 Pros cpu. The cpu of the xb1 is a little bit better than the cpu of the ps4, but it didn't help the xb1 so far, so this difference shouldn't matter for scorpio.

problem with doubled framerate is, if scorpio/ps4 pro can reach 60 fps and the basegame is 30 fps (on base xb1/ps4) the developer than has left some cpu power unused. If they reach 45-50 fps with base consoles, you want 30fps because of the vsync issues. So I don't see the benefit of the cpu upclock outside of more stable framerates and to ensure the GPU is not underchallenged.

But the upclock of the CPU may make sense in future, when we get "scorpio 2" in a few years.

Bigpappy2524d ago

True, but they are only focused on Scorpio. Looks like Many developers would like their games running on Scorpio at high fidelity and refresh rates.

343_Guilty_Spark2524d ago

They wont be the last developer to achieve 4k/60. I think that target will be surprisingly common given how well optimized the Scorpio is.

Aenea2524d ago

Indeed, am sure many other Indie devs will be able to achieve it as well!

donthate2523d ago

@Aenea

Not only indie devs, but AAA devs too! Can't wait for the monster!

AmUnRa2524d ago (Edited 2524d ago )

Yeah, i bet this game wil run 4k 60fps on the PS4 Pro.

Relientk772523d ago

I've never even heard of The Wild Eight

Liqu1d2523d ago

That's gaming bolt for ya.

frostypants2523d ago (Edited 2523d ago )

And the memory capacity has little to do with framerate anyway.

But you know. GamingBolt. Dumbest site around here.

Brohan2523d ago

You'd be surprised how little it takes to make a FPS (First person shooter) Compared to a game like a RTS or a 3rd person game.

PrinceOfAnger2524d ago (Edited 2524d ago )

What about ps4 pro ver ?

Aenea2524d ago

LOL

You any idea what the power usage difference is for 4k@60fps and checkerboard rendered 4k@30fps?

Checkerboard rendering a resolution takes half of the power of rendering it natively.
Rendering 30fps instead of 60 fps takes half of the power.

Doing both means a factor 4 difference! Scorpio is more powerful than the Pro, but not 400%, it's only 140-150%....

And please don't gimme that GPU is not the only thing important yadayada, a renderer that renders twice the amount of pixels needs twice the amount of power, a renderer that does double the framerate needs twice the amount of power as well, nothing to do with CPU, RAM, memory bandwidth or anything else...

PFFT2523d ago

Chinese Checkerboard at 30fps incoming for the Pro!

donthate2523d ago

@Aenea:

So 4k@60fps checkerboard then.

How long until they get sued and it gets taken down? I say a month or 2

PRIMORDUS10h ago

Sued for what? It's just an emulator no ROMs are with it. ROMs are easy to get anyway, but with iPhone you can't just copy and paste like Android unless it's jail broken I think. Anyway Nintendo should be more concerned with their ROMs up to torrent for years for all of their concoles, but then again they can't do nothing about it, they never will and I love it. 🤣

NotoriousWhiz7h ago

As long as it isn't emulating the Switch, it'll be fine.

RonnySins8h ago

Naaah! Don't want to waste time emulating on iPhone.

Knightofelemia6h ago

Won't belong before Nintendo bangs on Apple's door to have the emu removed. Like I say you take down one six more take it's place. Problem is people are putting emu's on such stupid platforms. The good emus are the ones not on stupid platforms like a red target. The good emu's are word of mouth and keep a low profile.
