Not really. This only indicates a sample size of what people want, not what they will actually buy. People could want a Pro, but cannot afford it. People could want a Scorpio, but Pro is within their budget. Can't speakwith certainty though since I don't know the prices. I'm guessing more than Pro.

Even then, less people being interested in Scorpio still suggests the gap widens. A year's headstart coupled with greater demand, regardless of how small, still works out in Sony's favor. If 15 people bought Pro monthly to 13 people buying Scorpio, the difference was two, but becomes twenty in ten months. Doesn't sound like much, but I'm also using unrealistically low figures.

Nobody is denying that Sony has a killer library of 1st party titles. But you can't discount the fact that all 3rd party games should look and run the best on Scorpio. To you, that might not be important. 1 The already established HUGH lead.

3 This is a 'want to' scenario which means people may change their mind if the Scorpio cost more then pro.

Polls like this don't really show intent to purchase, just desire to purchase. As a gamer, I can say that sure, I'd be interested in purchasing a Scorpio, but I have no intention to due to some issues I feel MS needs to resolve around their platform.

Same can be said for others about PS4P. Although their personal reasons for not intending to purchase one may be different.

But, if we take the numbers at face value, and given this is a US poll, it actually lines up pretty close to US sales ratios of the regular PS4/X1.

It will be more interesting to see how MS handles E3. I doubt much is going to really change though. Maybe I'm being negative, but MS hasn't exactly instilled confidence in me that they are competent.

MS has been making strides all gen to do better, and they have indeed made some great strides in that regard. but things haven't changed much since the start of this gen despite all this. New hardware probably isn't going to be the answer, because it doesn't seem to be doing such huge things for Sony with the PS4P. It just reinforces my belief that hardware was never actually a problem this gen.

Why would I buy Scorpio? It's a beast of a machine but it has nothing to demonstrate that power. XBOX Head Phil Spencer said he wants service (Micro transaction) based games and I'm not into that. Especially since I platnumed Horzon Zero Dawn with paying a penny beyond my day 1 price.

Forget Scorpio. XBOX needs some exclusives that are exclusive to XBOX. When they get back to that instead of this PC nonsense I might take an interest.

Don't care where a console is made. I just want the products that deliver on stuff I actually want. A more powerful version of a console to play the exclusives that exist on it(ones that appeal to me at least), is not enough to make me want one.

When it comes to PS4P, I got one, because Sony and the developers that make exclusives for it, make the kind of software I want for it.

I have no interest in supporting an american company, if that company can't provide me with what I want. It's only reasonable to assume that will be Sony priority to stay ahead of Scorpio with a price curb prior to its release. But what I actually believe is going to happen is Microsoft will also try to reduce the Xbox S price as well! If they do!? It'll make the price range between the Xbox S and Scorpio bigger and they'll create a price barrier between their own products that would potentially hurt Scorpio sales! Simply because the Xbox S price will be perceived as a much more reasonable price in comparison to Scorpio's price.

Sure hardcore fans will opt for Scorpio even if it's expensive, but the general public will go for the least expensive Xbox S. Because perceptual wise they won't see the huge difference that the hardcore fans will.

Why would they want to reduce the OneS price? This will hurt them tremendously when the Scorpio releases. Businesses wise, I can't see how MS can be successful. The Scorpio development must have out them a fortune a low price OneS will sure not recover those, neither a low volume Scorpio. It woildmakesence to sell the Scorpio for $399. I mean according to the most outspoken Xbox advocates praised the Scorpio and downtalked the Pro because it's not enough of an improvement. And we Sony softlaunched the Pro. With almost no explicit marketing, nor any explicit underlining of Pro features in games.so, that argument Scorpio hasn't really been marketed yet is invalid. I am surprised that Scorpio isn't further ahead. According to its fans here. It has to be much much higher if MS wants to see "new console like" sales numbers .

Sony doesn't even need to lower the price. All they need to do is an onslaught of marketing which points out the Pro and games. Games you can either place today or within the year. While MS has nothing but some ports for launch.

This puts Sony in the position to either have to wait it out to announce a price drop when it won't gain as much attention if they intend to react to MS price, or just annoucing a price and giving MS the chance to adjust accordingly.

Either way, the price of Scorpio will get huge notice when it happens, so MS could easily wait a bit.

I'm not sure they will though, because as soon as they announce a price, it will go on preorder at most major retailers.

I'm sure PS4P and certainly OGPS4 will receive a price drop this year though, unless MS prices the Scorpio at some ridiculous price which makes it fail before release.

the 13% is based off of american gamers, and because we dont exactly know how many Xbox ones have been sold in the Us, lets say all 25+Million are us gamers.

13% of 25Million is 325,000 Gamers
15% of the 55+ Million ps4 gamerare interested in the pro
15% of 55+Million is 825,000

so even with a 2% difference in interested between the two consoles. its still a 2:1 sales projection for pro vs scorpio.
so you should be saying sucks to be scorpio because its starting off in an even harder position than the Xbox one S is in. The one S is cheap to purchase where as the Scorpio will liekly be more than the PS4 Pro. and even when the Xbox was throwing 5 games in with the purchase (approx 300$ value) it still wasn't outselling the PS4.

whiel power matters, brand recognition and content is what is pushing console sales this late in the gneration, not the spec sheet

What exactly do you expect MS to pull out of their hat that they didn't last E3 when they actually announced the console. It's not like the make up of people in polls like these means that everyone who took them is somehow even going to know what comes out of E3. Given the rampant Scorpio media coverage, it's safe to assume there isn't much MS can annouce about the system other than price, and maybe some games if we're lucky. So price has to be much lower than most are expecting for the bump to go up, and the games have to actually be something that gamers want. If not, then Scorpio will probably stay where it is, ,or maybe even drop.

We've been waiting on E3 going on almost 4 years now. Nothing has changed for Xbox in all this time. new hardware will get some attention for sure, but I doubt it's going to change these statistics in MS favor.

Price does not affect the demand for a product - it only affects the quantity demanded.

Price is intrinsically linked to demand. Price isn't connected to desire though. I desired to have a 3DO back in the day. The $700 price tag made my demand for actually buying it absolutely zero. Demand for a product typically goes up as price goes down, or price is adjusted to increase demand when demand at a particular price wanes. That's pretty basic free market philosophy.

Also take in account that price elasticity is also very important especially when you discuss any change in price. That all depends on how steep the curves are.

That did not change the demand. It made the quantity you wanted zero. What affected the 3DO's demand was the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis. The price of a similar good affects the demand, not the product's own price.
For another example, say you really want to buy a car. You see a Ferrari and think it's the most amazing car in the world. You can't afford it though. The demand for the Ferrari is still there, but the quantity you could get is zero.

I never understood this notion that Scorpio is going to cause damage to PS4 or the Pro. 4k isn't even mass market yet. Most people are going to play on 1080p sets. Everyone mentioning PS4s marginal difference from X1 are forgetting that this was early in the generation. Specs aren't going to be a big deal mid gen when people are buying what their friends have.
The difference from Pro and Scorpio multiplats will come down to 1800p and 2160p. Won't be a big difference that everyone is making it out to be. Sony should save their spec focus on PS5 instead of playing a game of one up with MS in a gen they already won. People saying Sony is going to answer to Scorpio with PS5 next year are deluded.

Ms must be pretty happy with these results, given the fact they have yet to even officially unveil the Scorpio, and, as of yet, have spent no money or resources on any marketing or promotion, and, outside of enthusiast sites, has received no real coverage of any consequence, and it is still only a couple of % behind a console which has been on the market for 6 months? I'm sure they will see this as a good sign. There are a few problems with this survey though, I mean, their definition of "gamer" is pretty broad, and it includes people who only game on mobile, which, these days, means just about everybody.

There are alot of factors that would come into play here before even doing a poll like that, to many statistics and alot of those statistics are not yet available.

I tell you this though if there's any truth to those numbers before the price reveal, before any real game reveals on Scorpio, shows how much interest early on the scorpio has developed. Depending on price and e3 reveal and some demos of how games are looking could swing it either way.

All those who keep saying power doesn't matter, well your about to be prooven wrong, especially at the start of the ps4 and xb1 cycle and it was all remasters that was all that was talked about, the advantage the ps4 had over xb1, soon as Scorpio gets a first mentioned it all changed to exclusives. Stupid console war debates always make these forums look thick by all the fanboy comments around.
