From DmC to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Ninja Theory is getting it right

Ninja Theory is a more than competent development studio that had a rough go of it with fans in the past, which originated from the development of DmC: Devil may Cry. As a Western developer making a Devil May Cry game, the deck was stacked against Ninja Theory from the outset. For the most part, fans didn’t want a new interpretation of their beloved characters, and especially not with the changes to design, story, and combat that Ninja Theory had planned, even if Capcom had pushed them to make those radical changes in the first place.

I'm really interested in this game and I love the psychosis elements to it. I suffer from Schizoaffective Disorder and I think it's interesting they are going so in depth with her issues and not just having a "sanity" meter. Can't wait to play it!

ya i've been in contact with domenic from NT about how its very welcoming to see disorders like this shown in a natural realistic way. can't wait to play the game :)

Yeah I read they have been consulting doctors and I like how they are creatively incorporating it into the game. I was also blown away how guerrilla they have gone with the development and are creating a AAA game with an indie budget.

Goldby133d ago

They also had some people who suffer from psychosis on as consultants for the audio to make sure the voices sound as realistic as possible

Definitely looking forward to this game. Felt Heavenly Sword was one of the more underrated games last gen.

No. DmC is not a "solid action game". That I got lost at one point without realizing it, got killed in combat on the level, and screwed up combos because I didn't have the switch timing down yet, but still got a B... "solid". Right.

phoenixwing133d ago (Edited 133d ago )

Your reasons are horrible for not thinking the game is a solid action game. You disagreed with the ranking system and couldn't do the timing right and somehow that negates the gameplay? Are you serious?

The real fact is if it wasn't titled in the DmC universe and was a standalone game with a different skin ppl wouldn't have been big babies about it.

Honestly after i played it for free when it was ps plus game, i felt bad for not supporting the game bc it really deserved a buy from many, like you say change title and different skin ppl wouldve said great job. I wished that this one continued really. I enjoyed it, last time i enjoyed dmc was dmc 3 and 1. 2 was garbage story, and nero oh god worst character

NapalmSanctuary132d ago

He's pointing out that he messed up and the game gave him a pass.

ShadowWolf

Sounds like you just suck. 😀

Agreed heavenly sword seriously underrated game. Characters and story were ahead of most. Shame there couldn't have been more.

FallenAngel1984133d ago

I've enjoyed all of Ninja Theory's games from Kung Fu Chaos on Xbox when they were known as Just Add Monsters all the way up to DmC: Devil May Cry
