Google targets in-game ads

Internet superpower Google is believed to be planning a move into the in-game ads market through an acquisition of advertising firm Adscape.

The Wall Street Journal reports that takeover talks are currently underway for the firm and its technology, which allows for the placement of advertisements in video games, and predicts that an announcement could be made later this week.

Not cool imo. Gonna take resources away from the gameworld and use them to render ump-teen in-game billboards, posters, soda cans, potato-chip bags, etc..... Or queer load-out adverts :(

Even if in-game advertising somehow significantly lowered retail pricing, I'd still pay more for an ad-free game. meh.
