Alissa McAloon states that the new, 'restated' reporting from NPD shows that spending on game software has actually been increasing steadily since 2010, whereas previously reported data showed somewhat of a spending plateau.
Well of course because tracking digital is harder then physical..
Good to see the digital game market has actually been increasing quite a bit. While im very aware that digital includes mobile crap, dlc , etc. It stands to reason that physical sales have not necessarily been going up. Though, of course, the numbers are skewed, it seems like physical is decreasing if anything when it comes to the entire game market. And I do not think there are that many people willing to spend $$$ on mobile gaming unless they are real gamers to begin with. Heck I dont even spend a dime on it. And the majority of nongamer people I know that do play games on their mobile phone tend to go purely towards the free games and not spending any money.
does this make seven yrs of NPD reporting (on software) irrelevant?
