Shadow of the Colossus-inspired custom level wins 24-hour game development marathon

Burning the midnight oil with pizza and caffeinated drinks is common for college students, but doing so to create a functional playground for a walking happy-go-lucky ball of yarn is definitely new.

Developer Media Molecule's charming creation, LittleBigPlanet was the focus of last weekend's 24-hour Game Jam at Parsons the New School for Design and Technology. The reputed design school in the heart of New York City teamed up with LittleBigPlanet publisher Sony to host a competition with more than 150 students from different disciplines broke into 19 teams. The students had a single day with LittleBigPlanet to build the most creative level possible using LittleBigPlanet's in-game tools.

This game has near limitless possibilities in level creation. There are going to be some extremely creative levels developed.

It's going to be crazy.

I'm seriously coming close to whining like a baby because I want this game NOW.

LBP + <insert nearly any game inspired mod> = ZOMG WIN!
This game is simply mind boggling. I have a feeling it's going to become a phenomenon and new trend setter for gaming generations to come. We are going to look back on this generation (Wii, 360 & PS3) as the time LBP was created, discovered and explored by all gamers (young, old, casual, hardcore and even "some" people that never played a game before in their life).

wasn't there a story about MM being blown away I think? Hopefully, quite a few of their levels get put in at some point.

They say that all the levels made at the event will be included on a parsons planet in the final game.

What sounds really exciting is that Parsons are starting a game design class using even more awesome levels :D

LBP = Most innovative game of the forever.

theusedfake3734d ago

that's easily one of the coolest levels I've
seen yet. I can't wait to get my
hands on this game.

ICO next right? ;)

It's funny that you mention ICO.

I was playing it today and I just now noticed something. The music from the save screen in ICO is exactly the same to the background music in PixelJunk Monsters.

Just throwing that out there.

Back on topic: That SOTC level is pretty awesome.
