You're Not Too Stupid to Build a PC, But You're Still Stupid

Kyle Shipley writes:

"So you've never built your own computer before. It's fine, I'm not here to judge. Unfortunately, I am here to belittle and deride. Your rig sucks, your frame rate sucks, and you haven't modded your case to look like Constantin Brancusi's "Bird in Space." Because I'm feeling especially charitable today – due to parole requirements set forth by the state of California – I've deigned to acknowledge the existence of sub-optimal machines. Building your own rig is no small task, but it's not nearly as hard as it looks. I'll go through the basics with you and spoon feed you some recommendations, lest you starve to death in a pile of your own ignorance."

Wow patronising dumb article (not news) from pompous ass who seems to think everyone wants a PC that is covered in garish LEDs.

No sale, I have a laptop and a PS3 for gaming which is the way I like it. PCs are for word processing, email and porn and I don't need a quad core cpu for any of those things!

It's hard to keep 3 skin flicks and my 24 hour streaming video of Lovely Lita going at once without a beefy processor and extra RAM :)

I built many rigs and this guy is missing some important points...First off he mentions the Power Supply as a generic part of his rig, basing his choice on wattage...This might have been true 6 years ago but now there are many more things to check especially if you'll be going SLI. Number of rails, amps per rail, number, type and length of cables, efficiency rating, cooling fans (CoolerMaster ExtremePower is a low-mid grade PSU).

Dual-core better for gaming is not true anymore, especially if you are expecting to keep your PC for years...Quad cores will run your games just fine most of the time since the bottleneck is usually on the GPU.

Although this article is aimed at newbies, it is way too simplified for a robust gaming rig that has a clear upgrade path...The key is to read on each individual part and read reviews and such on the parts that you can find on sale...try aiming at mid to high end, you'll get the best bang for your buck.

Or if you don't have the best, you're stupid? Ooh let me try mine.

So you've never lifted a single weight before. It's fine, I'm not here to judge. Unfortunately, I am here to belittle and deride. Your body is weak, your frame is girly, and you haven't worked out your body to look like Bodybuildings "Big" Jay Cutler. Because I'm feeling especially charitable today-due to post release control reqirements set forth by the State of Ohio-I've deigned to acknowledge the existence of saggy man boobs. Building your body is no small task, but it's not nearly as hard as it looks. I'll go through the basics with you and spoon feed you some recommendations, lest you starve to death in a pile of your own ignorance.

I would love to smash this guy's face in, along with his geeky rig. Typical human race, just because someone doesn't know what you know doesn't make them ignorant. I would enjoy a little toe to toe with this Kyle Shipley. What a joke.

Who completely ignores sarcasm and the fact that the article is obviously intended for humor. Nice job jumping straight to the "I would love to smash this guy's face in" bit, though. That's a huge improvement over wit.
