When it comes to first-person shooters set in World War II, Gearbox Studios' Brothers in Arms series always seems overlooked. This may be due to the fact that the latest Call of Duty or Medal of Honor entry is always met with greater fanfare, although the latter has definitely slipped in recent years. Whatever the case, Brothers in Arms hasn't always gotten a fair shake, despite the fact that the first two games in the franchise were both critically acclaimed. Of course, the latest game has been in development for years now, so it's probably not surprising that the series has fallen off the radar a bit. Now that's it finally here, will Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway be the game that redefines the WW2 genre?
New cover system works well; impressive environments; strategic elements are still a lot of fun; engaging story.
AI can be wonky at times; tank missions feel tacked-on; multiplayer is disappointing; story could be confusing to new players.
