It’s been a long wait for actual details on Sonic Forces, formally known as Project Sonic 2017. SEGA finally lifted the curtain at a SXSW panel today by sharing a bit of gameplay and details.
SEGA aired a trailer for Project Sonic 2017 at its panel for the series at SXSW today. It was the same video from last summer, but with something new at the end.
Is Sonic going to be a part of some force that includes his supporting cast playing major roles in the story again
They also said it's following in the footsteps of Colors and Generations . . . Both of which are just below an 8 on Metacritic. Might not be a great game, but this should at least be a good one.
For those wondering, they showed a brief gameplay clip that's currently only available off-screen. The non-off screen version is being made available tomorrow morning.
From what I've seen from the few seconds of gameplay, it reminds me of Unleashed and that's not a good thing.
Saw some off-screen footage, and I am very happy it's similar to generations. That was probably my favorite sonic game in the last 10 years so I hope this will be good.
With the two titles confirmed for the event, could Project Sonic 2017 finally get a name? And could Sonic Mania get a release date? More information revealed in the official reveal.
Can't wait to see Sonic 2017. Don't why it took long for them to show it. Probably because Sonic has a much much large fanbase with Nintendo so they waited for the Switch to be fully revealed.
So excited for Sonic 2017. I loved Generations and Unleashed with the daytime levels so I hope it's in the vein of those games. Lost World was pretty meh and I found it overly frustrating with the movement. And let's not get started on Boom.
Lets see what kind of F***up gameplay theyr gona introduce.
Being a massive Sonic fan, i am very much looking forward to both games. Hopefully they don't try and reinvent the gameplay in Project Sonic 2017 and just stick to what works like we got with Generations.
I'm also hoping for more of serious tone to the storyline this time around too. Recent Sonic games have been a bit too kiddy friendly too me, i much preferred the more serious tone that we got in the Adventure games.
If you grew up gaming in the mid-to-late Nineties or early 2000s, there’s no way you could have avoided the 3D platformer. Those were the days: Mario 64, Crash Bandicoot, Banjo-Kazooie, Spyro, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper. Heck, even Gex, Croc and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger weren’t that bad. Somewhere around the mid-2000s, though, the genre was over-saturated with low-quality movie tie-ins and sub-par clones, making it hard to see the wood from the trees. Obviously, there's the odd Mario platformer or HD remake to tide fans over – as well as some promising releases last year, such as the Ratchet and Clank remake – but publishers and developers wrongly assumed that consumers have all moved on from the genre. Until now. here are five reasons that prove 2017 will mark the revival of the 3D platformer.
Its been a good long while since I've played a 3D platformer that I loved. I hope 2017 changes that.
Are you implying that despite the various awesome 3D platformers we've had in recent years prior to 2017 that the genre was somehow dead
I wonder what the third playstyle will be
Why not just create a game like the classic Sonic levels
I don't see how plot wise they can bring back past and present Sonic once again
3rd option is b
Sonic forces looks so good, just like sonic generations. actually i like 3D sonic games more than 2D ones.
