I have to say, after watching quite a few videos, it looks pretty uninspiring. And a pretty broken. Like it needs about 6 months for polish.

Game looks good so far. I honestly don't see anything that would really bother me. All games have minor annoyances to me, but usually they don't destroy my enjoyment. I've watched hours of this game and I think some people are making mountains out of molehills.

Truthfully, though, I won't trust reviews of this game either way. There's been a hate campaign against this game for years. Long before much of anything was really known about the game. I also see that people are mixing in their hatred of EA, their political anti-SJW views, their hatred of Manveer Heir, and various other axes they have to grind. Some of those things are things I would probably agree with on a personal level, but I don't think it should affect people's judgement of the game itself.

I usually ignore other people's opinions on games anyway because they aren't very reliable to me and what I like in games. But this game especially is one I'm just going to have to judge firsthand from gameplay videos and by a bit of reading between the lines of reviews.

The AI companions have been kind of like that in all the Mass Effects. They re-position to get out of your way or follow. As it is not a linear game, the AI accommodates for any scenario and environment, unlike linear games with a single AI companion.

The thing is, the enemy AI looks dreadful as well. Just standing around waiting to be shot or running around aimlessly. It just seems they haven't paid any attention to it. People may berate me for bringing this up, but after playing Horizon, it really opened my eyes to how enriching challenging and smart AI can be. In fact,I would say it is one of the pillars of excellent combat. If the AI sucks, what's the point?

Really? I thought the AI was brain dead, the entire game you can hide in bushes and whistle and critical strike almost every enemy in the game. The AI doesn't even see the pile of other dead enemies you've killed and continues to walk past them right into your critical strike. Mass Effect Andromeda might have some bad AI(Haven't played it) but claiming Horizon Zero Dawn was good....is incorrect

RPS is legit, they usually throw their honest and weird opinions out there on AAA to extremely obscure games at the risk of losing their audience, not getting clicks. I mean, who the heck structures their Game of the Year list like a broken advent calendar and thinks "THIS will bring people to the site!" (seriously, RPS, have you tried that on a phone? It's awful.)

With RPS, if they have some significant gripes - and it seems like they do, particularly with scripting, voice acting, team AI, menus, and side quests devoid of anything fun - they're coming from someone's actual opinion, not a click-farm. And this isn't a review because they've only been able to play the first few hours, like everyone will with the OA demo before it's released.

Went on the site decided to give them the click, articles trash tbh. Pretty poorly written imo. Comments section is like a circle jerk session of hating on bio ware.... They seem to decide that its like dragon age Inquisition in many ways which according to them was shit and boring. Now I dunno about anyone else but I recall meta critic rating of 89% and a good game. Standard bio ware in that some of the dialogue was ott/cringe worthy, usually from. IDK man, just reading that review/preview, it shows me that this guy didn't like this game going into it. A lot of people are still holding grudges over the end of ME3 and are already writing this game off. Almost all other previews/reviews are indicating the game is great and minor issues with character visuals. Huh? Did you read my initial comment? I clearly make two things evident. The way he writes makes it like he already knew how he was going to write this review before he played it. The second thing clearly evident with just the slightest level of reading comprehension is that my knowledge has come from other previews and reviews saying mostly positive things with a few issues like glitches and poor animations. I have not watched the live streams solely on the fact I do not want to see all the spoilers. I still have read multiple reviews that talk about the pros and cons without providing spoilers. Try to read the entire comment or develop a stronger level of reading comprehension.

To be totally fair, the first few hours of Dragon Age: Inquisition are the worst part of that game too, and can be confusing and frustrating in the same way it sounds like Andromeda might be. For one they were playing a preview build which only featured the 1st and 4th missions, obviously all the crap parts were cut out to save face. Second, the writer is not the same person as the one who played the actual final build with all the bad parts out in full glory. Third, near the end she even talks about how jarring the character models and animations are, and now we are seeing multiple articles talking about the same thing 2 weeks later.

Here's my problem with this. It's not that there's an opinion that's salty and critical. It's the title. It tries to convey opinion as fact. What it should say is:

or

Or whatever. But you get the point. Titles like this only create conflict - and since many of us clearly haven't even gotten our hands on the unreleased title, there's not much to go off of beyond he said, she said.

I didnt think it was that scathing. Or, at least, wasnt coming from a place of wanting to hate the game. Sure, hes agreeing with a few gripes weve heard elsewhere and is more vehement with his complaints than most. I've read quite a few negative reviews already, but the EA Access 10 hour trial is a great way to see for yourself and make up your own mind. The red flag that jumped out at me a couple weeks ago was the late decision to cancel the mp open beta weekend for it. The excuse that was given was that it just wasn't needed. But in the past when that kind of thing has happened with other releases, it's because the devs aren't real thrilled with the final product and they fear the negative rep from people realizing that it's disappointing after trying it in a late beta will outweigh any testing benefits. Maybe it was totally innocent and they really didn't think they needed the open beta. But it's never been a comforting sign with other releases.

Having played a couple hours of the EA access trial, I can say a few things. The story seems interesting enough. I didn't find the writing to be 'awful'. The dialogue wasn't particularly memorable in the small amount that I played, but it wasn't bad. The characters have potential to be likeable, but I didn't really get to play enough to really have an opinion one way or another.

I don't really get all the hate on the UI, either. I had no problems with it.

That said;

The facial animations, especially on female Ryder, are absolutely terrible. Bioware has always struggled here, but I'd hoped they would've been able to improve all things considered. It didn't happen though.

Performance wise, I noticed the frame rate tended to stutter a lot, and that's with the lower resolution of the Xbox One version. Which is really shitty considering the game isn't all that amazing graphically.

I've never played this series before. I was pretty interested in this game. Would it be like Bloodborne where I come in really late to the series, loved it so much I went out bought Dark Souls for Xbox 360 and it's dlc. Started to really get in the series then. Went out bought DSII: SOTFS and DS:III and it's season pass both on PS4. Bought a new PS3 and got Demon's Souls and even though I already had DS, I went out and got DS: Prepare to Die Edition on PS3 to keep it all in one PlayStation atmosphere especially with the trophies.

After all that I went out and got Lords of the Fallen and Nioh since they are part of the Souls genre I knew I would like them. Not a bad choice either. This is what happens when your late to a series and the series really sticks to you.

This guy that did the review is a huge fan of this series. He went in pumped about this game only to be let down. He goes into grave detail on what he doesnt like as well.

When the top N4G headlines are this, it's never good and looks horrible to new comers.

- Mass Effect Andromeda Graphical downgrade.
- The first few hours of ME:A are...well they aren't good.
ME:A is full of Awkward and reused Animations, Performance Issues, and glitches.
- Should We Be Worried About ME:A?

This is what I woke up to today. I'm really skeptical about the game now. It doesn't look good for this game. I will still wait for more reviews. But this game went from Hero to zero instantly for me. Especially when a die hard fan has nothing but bad things to say about the game and you know how hard that is to admit/say, when it's your series on the line.

Many "fans" threw a fit over the 3rd games ending and have continued to be bitter. I loved the series and cannot wait for the game. I highly doubt this game is going to be a bust. People just didn't like the 3rd ending and parts of dragon age inquisition. The Internet never forgets and these old grudges are clouding perception. If you are truly worried about the game, don't pre order or purchase until the review embargo lifts on the 20th and see what a whole variety of people have to say.

Absolutely. I've watched clips and read articles for over a year now on this game. I just can't throw in the towel yet. Kinda like For Honor, still waiting to see if kinks are worked out before I buy and get invested.

I know I'm extremely late to the series and even if the story is good I would still be lost most likely. But it looks like the beginning of the game covers alot of it. Which i kinda like.

I just hope I'm into it. I'm definitely looking for more reviews. Its just hard to see a die hard fan like that be so down.

Man you'd think the ending of mass effect 3 forced sterilization upon minorities or something the way people have completely turned on this series. It's okay people can get mad at a poor section of a three game series that was 98% amazing... I can't wait to get my hands on this.
