JTGA: In our latest editorial, we discuss For Honor's current multiplayer set up, and how present host migration leaves a lot to be desired. Also in this article, we take a look at the untapped potential for Cross Network Play, and fondly remember a GameCube classic.
Time for battle. Today, For Honor announced that its Year 8, Forged in War, starts on March 14 with the first of four new seasons. Each season will tell standalone stories focused on special weapons unique to one of For Honor’s factions.
This is a great achievement. Today, For Honor celebrated reaching 35 million players and announced that its first fully armored Viking Hero, the Varangian Guard, will join the game on February 1.
Wow, this game is still going! Have not played it yet but wondering if it's worth jumping into
This looks like some Spooky fun.For Honor’s new season, Deceit, is coming on September 14, and the atmosphere is about to get otherworldly. Year 7 Season 3’s story opens with the Ghost Festival, a Wu Lin celebration to honor the dead with offerings and performances, running from September 14 to October 5.
7 years already, jesus. People play it still. It was fun but not the sticking around years kinda fun.
It's a shame about the issues with For Honor - how has it not become essential to stop rage quitting in games yet?! So many launch without any real punishment for it. Can you imagine if they took an achievement point off every time you quit during a game haha!
Also, that photo of Double Dash reminds me of how short the N64 and Gamecube controllers are! Seriously, our TVs and living rooms are bigger so you have to sit on the floor to play them these days...
Something that people dont seem to get is that with a game like this dedicated servers would cause the game to perform poorly. With P2P data packets ping 2 machines, you and other players. With dedicated servers packets hit 3, you, the server, and then other players. I dont think there is a fighting game in existence that uses dedicated servers, and what I posted above is the reason. Dont misunderstand me, I get as frustrated as everyone else with the drops and interupts. Its just the nature of the beast.
cross network play will continue to be an untapped area because of sony

This is not traditional P2P networking as the dev states. There is no host advantage if anyone hasn't noticed
any game... especially what amounts to an online only game needs QUALITY dedicated servers ... period ... its absolutely pathetic to think otherwise ... but it was to be expected from an ubisoft game ... this fact is why RB6 siege is held back from being one of the bigger shooters right now (it still is popular which is just a shining example of the promise the game has but is being kept from due to shit online service and lack of cheat prevention etc etc on ubisofts end because they dont know how to make a good online game IMO)
