Pocket Lint: Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 Phone Review

Pocket Lint Writes:

"For us the Xperia X1 looks like it's a valid attempt from Sony Ericsson, but the market is so crowded that it struggles to stand out from the pack."

"It's not that its not feature packed, as it is, it just in our brief play we weren't blown away with excitement and when you are fighting against the iPhone, the Palm Treo Pro and the BlackBerry Bold you need to have that wow factor."

"That view might change once we've had a better look at the handset over a longer period of time, but for now its one to look at with caution."

I've not had personnel experience of this phone, but for me at least, simply having the pull out keyboard makes it leaps ahead of the iphone that the articles suggests is one of its main competitors. Trying to do any real typing on a touch screen is simply pointless!

I'll give it a look!

This phone should have been released by now. While they're sitting twiddling their thumbs or whatever the eff they're doing, HTC and Samsung are announcing AND releasing some excellent phones. The Xperia was my first choice before, but now it has the Touch Pro, Touch Diamond, Touch HD, and Samsung Omnia to compete with. Ericsson needs to get their ish together quick.

even get into the review.....because they do not even seem serious about reviewing this phone. To quote them.."but in our brief play we weren’t blown away.....That view might change once we've had a better look at the handset over a longer period of time, but for now its one to look at with caution." So what they are saying is that their review is not really thorough, so it would have been better identified as a preview....especially since "The model we played with at the UK launch wasn't a final version either"

Then they say.."Sony Ericsson has made its first foray into the smartphone market". A simply search will show you that that statement is far from the truth.

I have been following this phone for almost a year now. While, initially, I wanted this phone like no other, in the time it has taken to finally come out, better phones were made and are close to coming out as well.

HTC Touch HD for me.

Sorry, Sony Ericsson. Need to be a little quicker or at least start out with higher specs so it wont be obsolete by the time you finally get the phone out.
