(WGB) Urban Empire Review – Council Votes No

Baden of WGB: "From the screen shots Urban Empire presents itself as a city builder in the vein of Cities Skylines, but in reality it’s more a political game infused with the story of your chosen family through their decades of rule. The actual city construction and management is quite light compared to other games, and thus a lot of Urban Empire is waiting around for your city to grow. Arguably it’s too simple, its lack of precise control and more in-depth options making it feel as though you’re merely poking the city from time to time with a large stick from a great distance while arguing with a bunch of people about poking it again."

Link-Cable Review: Urban Empire

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "People who know me know that I’m a pretty nerdy guy. Not just for video games (I do write about them for a living) but for movies, anime, history and politics too. So when the opportunity came along to review Urban Empire, a game that marries three of these passions (there’s no anime here but that would be pretty wild) I jumped at the opportunity. What I got was a meaty game that matched history and politics with a dash of Sim City and you know what? I loved almost every minute of it! Why almost? Well for that you’ll have to several other hundred words below!"

Urban Empire Review | GameCloud

Nick Ballantyne at GameCloud writes: "Urban Empire is as dull as they get. The tedium of always waiting is compounded by frustrating mechanics and an inability to be creative with how you create your city. While the focus of the game isn’t in how the city is designed, the game doesn’t offer much as a replacement for games like Cities: Skylines. There are certainly unique ideas, but none of them work well together, not to mention that I still have no idea how anything affects anything else. It’s a cryptic mess that’s straight up dull. I don’t know what else to say other than not to bother with this game. Just don’t."
