Japanese Sales Data: Media Create software sales for 8/9 – 14/9

Judging by the latest Media Create figures a Pokémon craze swept across Japan this past week. Nintendo's Pokémon Platinum for the DS debuted at the top spot with a whopping 963 000 copies. Known as Pocket Monsters Platinum in Japan, the third game in the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl series was released in Japan on the 13th of September, which means that it sold almost one million copies in its first two days on sale.

There are a total of five new entries this week and with sales figures bolstered all around, the hardware chart is sure to be a cracker tomorrow. Konami's Quiz Magic Academy DS entered the charts at number 2 with 119 000 copies. Square Enix's Infinite Undiscovery for the Xbox 360 debuted at number 3 with an impressive 90 000 copies.

Hopefully Infinite Undiscovery will give them great sales for a few weeks this time around. I was going to buy the game but damn it has had alot of bad reviews and Tales of V looks more to be a must buy to me.

Of the two games, I definitely feel like Vesperia is the safer bet if you're looking for a JRPG right now and already have/played or not interested in LO.

One bad thing about japanese made games is, when they leave the shores of japan, they have to hope people understand the game the same way the japanese do. Which doesn't happen alot, and games get poor reviews.

Sometimes it doesn't matter cause the game has established a good fanbase and people will buy it by name alone. But then some games just don't stand a chance!
