GameShark: WipEout HD Preview

By definition, remakes are boring. Take an old game, apply a fresh coat of paint, and maybe--just maybe--throw in a new feature or level or two. Adding in new content is, after all, not part of the process. Not that it matters much in the case of WipEout HD where revamping the tracks of old with gorgeous new visuals and enhanced online gameplay transforms the racing experience.

nope...day 1 for me...wipeout XL is still one of my favorite racing games, even though it was pretty punishing (although no where near as bad as the original)...

although I didn't really care for Bionic Commando rearmed that much...I do enjoy remakes like this...rearmed just kept to much NES'ness for my taste (not like the remake was mostly do to not really liking the original all that much...now remake Guerilla War, and you'll see the inside of my wallet)...

here is to hoping for Loaded HD...I know Interplay is no where to be found anymore...but bringing back that PS1 classic would be beyond awesome...

i'd love to play classic tracks again in High Definition.

Wipeout is by far the best futuristic racer ever. Whats best about it is its exclusive to PS3.

well the original Wipeout was on the Saturn also...it just so happened that Saturn sucked at high speed poly rendering, unlike the PS1 (the saturn was stronger at sprite based rendering)...so it was a crappy port, and no one bothered...

I wouldn't say that its 'better' because W: HD is only on the PS3...would be great for 360 owners to get to see why fatal intertia sucks so much, and why this franchise wrecks everything else in the genre...but the whole native 1080p @ 60fps thing doesn't really work on that platform, and we all know what happens when one platform gets a superior version...its probably best for sites like this that it just stays in Sony's control...the 360 has plenty of strengths...but native 1080p is definitely not one of them...normally I never really read about much of difference anyway, but apparently this title the 1080p leaves you speechless...
