Crytek is officially hiring for the PlayStation 3, prompting more speculation (from us) that its hi-tech PC shooter Crysis is heading to console in some form.
Crysis (on PS3) vs Killzone 2 I choose Killzone 2
Its tough to compare Crysis to Killzone 2 because many people have played and loved Crysis. We are still waiting for Killzone 2. Until we play them both, the comparison is invalid.
i agree i choose killzone 2 over crysis.. i tried the demo of crysis and it was nothing really impressive, i mean yes the graphics are awesome but thats about it from the demo
Firescuba makes a valid point. People need to stop assuming games are going to be hits. On the other hand, that would leave waiting for games a lot less exciting. You'd think gamers would get sick of being disappointed, wouldn't be so bad if they didn't create such a huge hype machine. Well, KillZone 2 is looking pretty schweet , but I'll wait til it releases to pass judgement as to avoid looking like a douche if I'm way off with my prediction
Personally, I'll take Far Cry 2 over ANYTHING Crytek has ever made, period. Far Cry 2 is one of the most impressive and promising games I've ever seen. There's no other game I'm looking forward more to this year.
Crysis looks awesome, and I think it would be a welcome edition to the PS3 library.
I thought Crytek said they're not bringing Crysis to consoles? If they're making a console game, then it's going to be a new IP.
Crytek has stated that if Crysis:Warhead was pirated too much, they would make console games. However, they started testing the CRYengine 2 on the 360 and PS3 a year ago.Its been on their list for some time
This could point to that rumor made awhile back.Since its obvious now that Crytek is hiring for a PS3 game,I wonder what they will cook up Edit:Actually from the job requirements,I think one of the PS3 programmers from Criterion should get it.They are an experienced group and their PS3 coding has been phenomenal.
Crysis is one of the best FPS many of us have never played with the lofty hardware requirements. Shooter fans everywhere would jump on this if it ever gets ported, which is still a big ?
That would be awesome, if true.
why? you're a fat girl. you like crap games.
Go wipe your ass. It's still oozing with Microsoft wetness.
If it does come to consoles hopefully it includes both Crysis and Warhead expansion similar to what Valve's Orange Box did with the Half Life 2 series. Wishful thinking anyway.
It wont look like the Crysis on my pc thats for sure. It'll be a jaggie low res mess compared to the great pc game.
You sure you're not exaggerating even in the slightest?
I guess the Crysis on PS3 rumors just might end up being true. Can't wait to see what Crytek can cook up for the PS3.
It was uhhhhh clunky. I'm a little concerned how they map controls for the controller in any console release. Even when i tried orange box on 360 it was sluggish.
Crytek actully get ps3´s power under control and take full advantage over its core? ... omfg .... then any pc can go home
Not really, Crysis is all about GPU/RAM regardless of how fast the CPU and RAM is, there just isnt the capacity to store all the high resolution textures. Another issue is the number of pixel shaders, if they can find a way to the CELL's SPEs to help with that it would be good, but it still wont be as good as on a high end PC. Anyways I have no doubt that they can pull off Crysis on the consoles, you just have to be kidding yourself to think it will match the same visual quality as on a PC.
One thing's for sure - if crysis ends up coming to consoles it won't look as good as it does on very high settings on a high end PC. I mean there is no feasible, technical way, even if they did utilize the power of the cell. What's more, if crysis comes to consoles it will almost certainly run at 720p, 30fps. My laptop can run crysis better than that on high settings.
its not gonna be crysis maybe some another crysis prequel
SONY should lock this down as an EXCLUSIVE if its true!!!
How would it be an exclusive if its already on the PC?
maybe if they hand 100 millions to crytek, but then again EA probably holds the IP and they didnt get rich by selling exclusive.
Crytek have stated many times Crysis will not come to consoles, Cevat said that the only way to get it to work on consoles would be to considerably cut the sizes of the levels due to the consoles lack of RAM, and by this time it would no longer be Crysis.. As the main gameplay element of Crysis is the large open levels. Its been known since (mid 2007) before the release of Crysis that Crytek have been hiring for the PS3, that does not mean Crysis is coming to consoles does it? They can make new IP's, you know? Crytek have said they have managed to get the CRYENGINE 2 (NOT CRYSIS) running with a mix of medium/high settings in relation to the Crysis settings. Why do websites keep publishing these stories when every time they turn out to be incorrect..? Crytek are already working on a console game that is not Crysis, so theres your explanation. Yes its true that they have said they will no longer make PC exclusives if Warhead sells badly, if that means bringing the next installment of Crysis to consoles - knowing Crytek they will wait for the next consoles rather than water down the Crysis franchise to fit to the underpowered consoles, and in the mean time work on other franchises for the current gen.
The CRYengine 2 has been confirmed by Crytek to run on PS3/360 but I suppose a new IP would be better in the long run for the consoles.
hahaha,Time to Jump Out Xbots
@steven colbert, "Crytek has stated that if Crysis:Warhead was pirated too much, they would make console games" and also there is piracy problem on xbox360. i think they will prefer ps3 for the crysis.
PS3 : 512MB RAM 1x 256MB XDR @3,2Ghz 1x 256MB GDDR3 @700Mhz XBOX 360 : 512MB RAM 2x 256MB GDDR3 @700Mhz Both consoles should be able to run Crysis, especially PS3 which has the XDR.. Can you image if you had XDR in your computer ? PS3 doesnt need more RAM for Crysis. With that speed (3.2Ghz) the PS3 is able to send the information much faster than standard PC RAM, which means that more isnt needed. Which the 8 cores from CELL it should be a piece of cake, but the trick is - How to fuking code on a PS3 so that you take the full fuking advantage :P .
I think the problem is that the ps3 doesn't have enough ram to process it all at once and to have that much happening on screen. It doesn't matter how quick it is because it needs to all be done simultaneously, not one after the other. I would expect massive pop in if this were to happen. Could be wrong, probably a way around it. In fact I'd rather be wrong, it would be awesome to have this game on my console.
Egzekutor you blatently dont understand the purpose of RAM, you cant just stream all the data directly through the CPU and expect it to run correctly, The RAM has to take the information, store it and then off load it to the CPU when needed.. Besides Crysis is extremeley GPU limited, and the PS3s GPU is very old now. I'm sure Crytek could do a good job in making a console game, just not Crysis.
Why do people seem to think that if you have faster RAM then you need less of it. Say you are rendering a large scene and the RAM is mostly filled with textures, and you need to store some info in the RAM but dont have enough space. You cant dump the textures because the next frame your going to render requires those same textures and the hard drive isnt fast enough to cache those files inbetween each frame. your only solutions are: Use less textures/objects. Use smaller resolution textures.
Not new, Crytek was already hiring PS3 developers for months now.
But i hope is not crysis, i already finished the game, perhaps a new ip.
this news is sooooooooooooooooo old... This was on Cryteks site for nearly 2 years.
im curious to see what crytek can cook up besides a fps game
Remember Instincts? It was piss-poor. Expect the same shoddy level of fidelity when Crysis makes the inevitable voyage to consoles. There's no way around it... Crysis, and Crytech games in general, are PC exclusives that release half-assed versions on other platforms which bear little similarity to their PC roots.
I'd rather have a new game from crytek than a crysis port.
Not this again... This is the third time I've seen a rumor article about Crytek hiring for PS3. I hope they do make a PS3 Crysis, but I've seen this uneventful story enough times now to ignore it until some kind of announcement happens.
