IGN: AGDC 2008: DC Universe Online Hands-On

With talent like that of artist Jim Lee, writer Geoff Johns, and a cast of characters including Superman, Batman, Killer Croc, Harley Quinn, Commissioner Gordon, Green Lantern, Doomsday, the Joker, Scarecrow, Brainiac, and many more, it's clear Sony Online Entertainment is aiming to deliver a sprawling game that utilizes all the DC Comics universe has to offer. The game's called DC Universe Online, a massively multiplayer title in development for PC and PlayStation 3 platforms. IGN got a chance to go hands-on with a demo while attending Austin GDC.

The story is too old to be commented.

"Characters can walk up to objects like park benches, lamp posts, cars, and buses and pick them up off the ground, slam them into things or throw them clear into the distance. This type of combat option is likely to level up the more you play the game, letting you at first toss only smaller objects and eventually moving up to the larger stuff. It made for a pretty hectic battle scene, as multiple players were running around at once fighting the infected civilians and villains while cars and other debris routinely came flying overhead and exploding."

I don't know about you guys but THAT ALONE RIGHT THERE is pretty freaking awesome.

Will it be like Guild Wars where you pay for the game and theres no monthly subscription...or does SOE have a track record of subscription based games?

erm...Everquest 1 and 2, planet side, star wars galaxies and matrix online (the only ones that i know from them) all had monthly fees. Let's hope that on the ps3 they'll play nice :D
