My problem is your skill is rated on the result and not the performance... so if you start out on a team below your skill level (for whatever reason) and you kick ass, but the team loses, you do not advance.
During my placement matches in season 1, my last 3 matches were against at least 2 grand master level smurf accounts (level 5s with less than 3 hours playtime) who slaughtered our entire team. I've been trying to dig myself out of platinum ever since.... frustrating enough that I stopped playing competitive.
I'm not master level, but can hold my own against any diamonds.
I wish the metric was on performance and not result.
ehhh its a dual edged sword IMO ... you want good team mates you play against sweaty try hard asshats in exchange... you deal with bad team mates you have to be the soul terminator packbacker on your team against what is hopefully at least a few BK randy's to slaughter your way to a jansport mvp trophy ... i just want want solid connections, i could care less the quality of my team mates or enemies i just want it to feel fair and equal online which is still apparently ridiculously hard for modern day game devs to pull off considering how shoddy most of the netcodes/online connections are in games now
